She blushed and smiled at his unintentional compliment. He probably only wanted to snap back at Rayen, but she took it as praise. Not wanting to show how much his words actually meant to her she quickly looked back down.

When they arrived, Silas was the first to her door and opened it. To her surprise he even offered a hand to help her out. He and Rayen both had cool hands–maybe they were real brothers after all.

The house was huge, located on a hillside with floor to ceiling windows everywhere. The driveway was long and wide with tall walls and plants enclosing the whole property, giving it complete privacy. As she walked closer to the mansion following the three brothers, she could see through it. The windows weren’t just to the entrance side but the hillside too, so she could already see the beautiful view it had overlooking the valley behind it.

Mr. Seaway handed the valet his key before turning to the main entrance. A man in a dark black suit welcomed them by the large front door. He was holding a list, his face slightly confused.

“May I see your invitation?”

Her heart dropped; she hadn’t brought it with them. She’d thought they wouldn’t need it. Silas turned his head and grinned at her slightly evilly as if he was expecting something bad to happen.

“Mr. Connerd invited us explicitly. We flew in just for this event, but if he prefers to lose his good relationship with Seavey Realty we will turn around and be sure not to do anymore business with him, including the millions of dollars in sales that are still pending. Our clients are more than willing to follow our lead on this.” Mr. Seavey’s voice was frosty as he looked down, his face not hiding his disapproval.

The blood drained from the man’s face in horror. He quickly stepped aside and let Mr. Seavey enter the house without further questioning.

The entry was massive, and Gwen couldn’t help but stop in her tracks and take it all in. It was bright, modern, and breathtakingly gorgeous. The whole first floor was open. The house didn’t seem to have walls, rather glass surrounding it. Some of the windows seemed to be sliding doors that opened up to the patio with an infinity pool overlooking the valley beneath the cliff.

“I believe Ms. Moore likes it,” Rayen stated in an amused tone.

She probably looked like a child in a candy store. “It’s beautiful.”

“Well shall we see it all then?” he asked as he nodded his head towards the outside area.

She followed him outside. It was just as stunning as the inside of the house. A large outdoor space stretched all the way to the cliff, where the infinity pool was sparkling all over. As if she was in a trance, she walked over to the glass railing that wrapped around the outdoor space and looked down into the valley. It had a beautiful view over L.A. and she could even see the ocean.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a young man in a suit and red tie scramble to get to Mr. Seavey and greet him with a big fake smile.

“Mr. Seavey, what an honor!”

“Mr. Connerd, I must say I’m not very pleased with how we were greeted upon our arrival.” Mr. Seavey’s tone was ice cold. Even with his words not directed to her, a shiver ran down her spine.

Mr. Connerd’s smile faded slightly in shock before he could fix it again. “I’ll personally show you the house.”

“We would prefer it if you stayed close to us.”

She jolted, losing her already unsteady balance, and was only held up by Silas’s hands on her waist.

“I think Ms. Moore would appreciate it if you stopped scaring her like that, Silas.” Rayen came closer with a champagne glass in his hand.

It didn’t feel right hearing him call her by her last name, but they were in public, and Mr. Seavey already seemed ready to rip someone’s head off.

“That would be nice.”

“What a shame,” Silas teased her, before letting go of her waist and stepping back.

“Shall we, Ms. Moore?” Rayen asked as he handed her the champagne glass.

She nodded and followed Mr. Seavey inside who was already standing in the enormous kitchen listening to all its features. Gwen’s jaw dropped when Mr. Connerd opened a side door to what he called the chef’s kitchen. Apparently, the kitchen in the main area was only for show and this one was for employees and actual cooking.

They looked at the spa, wine cellar, underground garage, and a library that she would’ve loved to spend all day in. Mr. Connerd took them upstairs in a glass elevator and showed them the guest rooms before opening up the master bedroom. Calling it a bedroom was an understatement. The bathroom alone was as big as her apartment. It had a patio with a hot tub that overlooked L.A. and the ocean.

She went outside while Mr. Seavey and Mr. Connerd started discussing the details of the house. With so much walking, her feet ached and she could feel blisters forming on her heels. She couldn’t resist and sat down on the edge of the hot tub, easing the pain in her feet.

“So, Ms. Moore, what do you think of the house?” Rayen asked curiously, leaning opposite her against the glass railing.

“It’s beautiful.”

“It is, but not quite to your liking?”
