“We need to stop at the village before going to the store if that is alright with you?”

“That’s fine. Is everything okay?”

“Yes. I wanted to go to our new cabin and take a closer look to be able to plan the renovations.”

She happily wiggled in her seat. “That sounds exciting. Will you be doing most of it by yourself or will you be able to get help?”

“I expected you to try and convince me to let you help.”

Her face turned red, and he could see guilt in her face. “I was thinking about it, but I’m not alone anymore. I have put our babies far too much at risk and now, I’ll be a good mother and try to tone myself down.”

“You can make all the decisions. I’ll be the muscle and you’ll be the brain.”

She giggled. “I like that idea.” Then the excitement and joy faded from her face. “Does the pack pay for that too?”

“Yes.” It was so hard for her to believe that she was taken care of and that she didn’t have to worry about anything. “Some of the material we can get from our warehouse, others we’ll need to buy elsewhere.”

She nodded, but he could see that she was still worried about it. She didn’t feel comfortable with the whole situation and how the pack dealt with money. She probably knew that she was taken care of, but deep down it worried her. The past years she’d spent alone fighting for herself and her survival caused her to become accustomed to supporting herself.

He parked the truck close to Christa’s cabin as always and walked around the truck just in time to help her out. She looked breathtaking as usual with light blue jeans and a black t-shirt that hugged her tiny little bump.

She looked curious. “What are you thinking about?”

“You.” Taking her hand, he entangled his fingers with hers and studied her from the side, walking toward his surprise. “You look beautiful and maybe it's just my impatient imagination, but you are showing a teeny tiny bump.”

“I thought I’d imagined that earlier when I got dressed.”

“We still need to tie a bow around that tree behind us,” he remembered as they walked onto their path.

She laughed and her eyes opened wide as they walked on to their clearing. The pile in front of the cabin had grown just a little and he could hear laughter coming from inside.

She stopped in her tracks and looked up at him. “When did you come here?”

“This morning. I’m sorry I lied to you but I wanted to surprise you.”

“You came here and worked all by yourself?”

Shaking his head, he guided her to the house. “No, I had some help.”

He opened the front door and let her step inside. Tristan was just coming down the spiral staircase carrying some old wood and he could hear Seth, Bear, and Kai arguing in the back.

Her eyes filled with tears as she looked around at the bare kitchen and living room. Her hand shook in his. “All this in one morning?”

Pride filled his chest. “Yes. Don’t forget we are wolves.”

“Oh yes right, super strength and so on.”

“Look at you and your tiny baby bump,” Tristan greeted as he walked over, dropped the wood, and pulled Niev into a hug, only to let her go a second later. “Don’t wanna provoke Blake’s wolf with a long hug.” He grinned and gave her a wink.

“What?”Niev asked, confused.

“My wolf doesn’t seem to like you hugging other men. He has become quite protective over you.”

Before she could reply, Seth, Kai, and Bear came into sight, walking down the hallway.

“I think we should just replace all of them. It’s much easier to replace everything instead of having to try to cut the new ones so they can match with the old,” Seth argued, annoyed.

“It’s just a waste of good material,” Kai countered.
