“So, would it be okay for me to wear a white dress?”

“Of course,” Layla reassured her.

“What time are these ceremonies?”

“Whatever time you like. This is all about you and anything you want to have, you’ll get. I’m sure as long as you’re there for the ceremony, Blake will let you do anything you like.” Lyliann giggled quietly again.

Niev carefully turned to Blake, not wanting to wake Darron in her arms. “What about we do it in the evening? I like all the lanterns and the moonlight.”

Blake rubbed his fluffy face gently over hers and hummed as if he wanted to agree.

“I think he likes the idea and so do I,” Layla agreed. “We can have them all in a color of your choosing. I’m sure everyone will help us and make this the most memorable day for the both of you.”

“Will Ann visit and be here for the ceremony?” Niev hadn’t met Blake’s second sister yet and was curious to meet her.

“She said as soon as we let her know the date, she’ll come. She’s eager to meet you,” Layla said with a smile. “She knows you’re pregnant but not the whole story and I can’t wait to see her face. Of course, only if you allow us to tell her.”

“I don’t think we can keep it a secret for much longer. I don’t mind people knowing, I just have the feeling they’ll treat me differently. Everyone will want me to be cautious and refuse to let me do things for myself.”

Niev knew that Blake had shared her concerns with Mayra. She was sure Mayra had shared this with everyone else too, but it was different admitting it to people herself. It made her uncomfortable, yet she knew she was in a safe place with everyone around.

Layla and Lyliann exchanged a look, Layla being the one who spoke first. “That’s not how you grew up, is it?”

Niev shook her head.

“I know you see it differently and we all understand why, but we want you to know we only want the best for you and that’s how we show our love to you and your babies,” she whispered the last part.

Lyliann and Niev both giggled. It warmed her heart that all of them were so understanding. They’d been nothing but supportive after they’d accepted her into Blake’s life and their pack.

“I know all of you mean well. It just feels…” She paused, searching for the words to best describe how she felt. “Not wrong, but odd and I don’t appreciate your worry less just because I don’t want to listen. I just didn’t grow up like all of you and I think it will take a while for me to adjust to everything.”

“You can take as much time as you like, Niev,” Lyliann answered in a soft and sweet tone. “We know all of this is a lot and probably a little overwhelming. We understand that you don’t appreciate us less, it’s just our way of sharing our love with you and,” she lowered her voice just like Layla before her, “your babies.”

They all giggled and grinned from ear to ear while their wolves around them hummed amused.

Niev cuddled up closer to Blake and he closed his paws around her, warming her. She enjoyed the rest of the night with him and listening to the occasional wolf sing somewhere around them. She closed her eyes and drifted off into a beautiful, peaceful dream world while holding Darron in her arms.

Peace Within

Blake had been wide awake all night, enjoying Selene’s presence. Those nights had always been something to cherish, but usually, he’d never spent them with his family. Most of them he’d spent roaming around the territory hunting and enjoying his wolf and the feeling of Selene so near to his soul. Of course, he’d always stayed and watched the opening and the consecrations of their new wolves but after that, he’d always left to be on his own. It was easier on his wolf that way.

This night had been special. It was the first of Selene’s night he’d spent not only with his family, but with Niev. This whole night his wolf had been calm and content, nothing like he’d experienced in the past. His body and soul were filled with a loving warm feeling that not only came from Selene, but also from his wonderful mate. Niev spent most of the evening leaning against him, petting and spoiling him with her affection. He’d felt no desire to run through the woods like he had in the past. The feeling hadn’t changed, even after Seth settled next to him. Usually, Seth’s wolf so close to him on a night like this had been triggering. Yet all he felt, with Niev in between his paws, was nothing but peaceful bliss.

She was still sleeping and cuddled up to him while Darron laid in her arms. Her heartbeats were steady and calming, singing their gorgeous melody for him. Before meeting her, he hadn’t known how empty his life had been and now with her in it, he felt fortunate to have her with him, never wanting to miss her. He felt Seth’s mind push against his and opened it to let him in.

Seth felt just as calm as him. ‘It’s the first of Selene’s nights we’ve shared together as wolves.’

Seth was right. The only night they’d shared and were supposed to celebrate Selene with each other was his consecration–the night their whole relationship had torn into a thousand pieces.

‘Yes, it is.’

Blake could feel Seth’s relief and adoration. ‘She has changed you.’

‘She’s saved me.’

It was true–Niev had truly saved him. Not just his life, but his broken, aching soul. Without her, he would still be far away from his family, all alone and broken. He, of course, had chosen to self isolate. It had been far less painful to be alone than to have been around a brother and a pack that mistrusted him. With her by his side, his whole outlook on life changed. She eased his pain and replaced it with peacefulness.

‘She gave me my brother back,’Seth said.
