Before closing his mind, Blake was able to feel pure happiness and gratitude radiating from him. He knew Seth was right. The two of them hadn’t been this close to each other for over twenty-five years. They’d only been children when they’d fallen apart. During that time, they’d barely spoken with each other. As children, they both only sat at the same table because they’d been forced to do so. The past few weeks had been the most time they’d spent together, and Blake was grateful for their relationship mending itself.

Blake watched as the sun slowly rose and the first sun rays passed through the leaf roof of Selene’s tree. The sun wasn’t bright, but it was enough for Niev to wake up. He felt her wiggle and stretch as she opened her eyes and looked around.

She smiled at him, kissing his cheek. “Good morning. I didn’t even notice I fell back asleep.”

He grinned and gently licked her cheek. She was so precious, so strong, and so beautiful it was hard for him to believe she was his and he was hers. Darron started to move in her lap and opened his eyes looking confused. He slowly sat up and his eyes met Seth’s who was cuddling with Lyliann who was still sleeping.

He jumped up, but Niev gently pulled him closer again and whispered, “Look, your mommy is still sleeping. So when you go over there don’t wake her. Just cuddle up to your daddy quietly, okay?”

He nodded and Niev let go of him, watching him as he did as she’d told him. She’d be an amazing mother, even if she doubted herself most of the time. Even when she was with Aaron she was doing so well. All she needed was practice and a little more self-confidence.

She slowly stood up and stretched her legs. “Can we take a walk? I’m a little stiff.”

He slowly nodded his head, raised his hips, and stretched before getting up on all fours.

She giggled quietly, careful not to wake anyone. “You look like an adorable, giant dog when you do that.”

He couldn’t help but love her even more. He started walking toward the edge of the clearing with her hand on his shoulder. She ran her fingers through his fur, and he couldn’t help but hum at the pleasant sensation. She stayed silent, but he could feel that she wanted to talk, yet she didn’t want to push him to shift in order to do so. They got to the spot where they’d watched Alan’s consecration and where he’d dropped his pants. He nudged her and pushed her slightly away from him before shifting. It only took a second before his two feet were tickled by the grass beneath him.

Out of the corner of his eye, he could see her bite her lower lip and look at him with burning eyes. He quickly put his pants on before anyone could see how much her desire affected him. He grinned and turned around. “I enjoy when you look at me like that.”

She blushed. “How couldn’t I?”

He closed the gap between them and leaned down, taking her hands in his. She got on her tiptoes and leaned into his kiss. He pressed his lips to hers, pouring all his love into this small gesture. She was so perfect, and he wanted her to know that she was more than loved and appreciated. He could hear her heart pumping faster as his lips pressed harder against hers. When he noticed her lungs had stopped filling with air, he quickly pulled back, leaving her breathless.

“You didn’t need to shift back yet,” she said as she attempted to catch her breath.

“I didn’t, but I wanted to.”

“Did you enjoy last night?”

“Of course.”

“Is what we did last night what you usually do?”

“No, it wasn’t, but last night was the most perfect night I’ve ever spent celebrating Selene.”

“What would you usually do?”

He weaved his fingers with hers and started walking onto a path. It was the same one they’d walked the evening before when he’d led her and Olivia through the night as they talked.

“I used to hunt through the woods after watching the consecrations. I never spent it with my family–I was always alone. It used to hurt to be with them, especially with Seth around. It pained my wolf to see Seth have what we couldn’t.”

“Did it pain you and your wolf to be with your family and Seth last night?”

“Not even a little. You soothed me. You took all my pain away, letting me enjoy the night like I should have all these years. I finally know the full extent of what these nights are about.”

He saw how the tears flooded her eyes as she looked up at him. “It was beautiful. Everything you show me is so wonderful. I don’t think I could ever not see the magic within your world.”

He smiled. This was truly making her happy. “Niev, this is your world too now.”

“Moments like last night make me think I’m dreaming.”

He stopped in his tracks and pulled her closer, wrapping his arms around her. “You’re not dreaming. Everything you see is real and it is your life now too.”

She stayed silent but he could feel that her tears were now running down her cheeks and onto his chest. She was crying out of happiness and likely because pregnancy hormones had her emotions all over the place. He held her, letting his fingers run through her hair until she was ready to continue the walk. She took his hand, and they walked side by side down the path and around Selene’s tree.

“Did you like the ideas about our commitment ceremony yesterday?” Her voice sounded hesitant as if she was afraid he wouldn’t agree with them.
