Even more relief spread through her, and she couldn’t help but smile. They were coming to rescue her. They were coming to take her back home.
‘Beautiful, are you hurt?’
‘Not physically but I missed you so much that it was more painful than anything I’ve ever felt.’
She could sense that he knew what she was talking about–he’d experienced the same. ‘Who took you, my love?’
The feeling of being comforted and soothed weakened as she remembered where she was. ‘A Lycan named Solomon.’
Blake was confused. His mind raced as he was trying to process what she’d just revealed to him. ‘What does he want from you?’
Tears started burning down her cheeks. ‘He wants our babies and as soon as they are born, he wants me to become pregnant with his child. He wants our baby girls to grow old enough for them to become pregnant with his children as well so his kind doesn’t die with him.’
As she shared her words, his anger turned into fury. She could feel his wild side slowly take over. ‘Has he touched you?’
‘Only to carry me when I was too weak to walk.’The memories of the flaming sensation of his touch returned to her. Blake’s wolf’s rage was about to take control, so Niev sent soothing and loving emotions his way. ‘Blake, you need to remain calm. I need you to think clearly so you don’t get hurt.’
It took him a few moments to calm down and clear his thoughts. She could feel that he was talking to someone else but couldn’t hear what he was saying. She soaked in the warm feeling that their bond had wrapped her in and waited for him to return his thoughts to her.
‘Niev, we need to know where you are. What is it like? How many wolves are there? Can you do that?’
She nodded, then giggled at the silly reaction. It seemed to amuse Blake too. ‘I’ve seen five wolves and the Lycan. I don’t know where we are, but it’s an old stone mansion surrounded by a wall that is at least ten feet high, maybe even more.’
There was a pause as he seemed to relay her message to the others before he returned to her. ‘Can you show me?’
‘How?’
‘Picture your room. Not all the small details, but rather the big picture. Open your mind so I may see it with you.’
She took a deep breath and tried to do as he’d asked of her. ‘Like that?’
She could feel his pride. ‘You’re doing great. Can you do the same with what you’ve seen outside and the Lycan?’
A shiver ran down her spine as she thought about the beastman. The Lycan, the monster who had killed so many women for his own selfishness. She pictured him first, wanting to get his picture out of the way before she shared what she’d seen outside. Blake’s pride grew with each picture she showed. Afterwards she waited for him as he talked to the others.
When he returned, she could feel his reassurance.‘Thank you. That will help us plan better.’
‘Blake, I think these wolves are much stronger than you and the others. The Lycan said that they are his creation.’
‘Yes, we believe so too,’he agreed.
‘They killed Julius and that other wolf that tried to save me.’Grief flooded her heart, more tears spilling over her cheeks.‘I wanted to save them, butI couldn’t help them.’
Blake poured his love into her heart, trying to soothe her. ‘I know.’
And that’s when she realized something, Blake didn’t feel any hatred or fury toward Julius, and that meant he didn’t know that Julius had led the wolves to her. She decided to keep it that way. Julius may have betrayed her, but he hadn’t done so willingly. He’d done it to protect his mother, the only person he seemed to love. She didn’t want Maria to know that. She didn’t want her to be the outcast of the pack because of a decision her son made.
‘Niev, we’re still on our way. I believe we are close but have to take detours to avoid detection from humans. Can you hold on just a little longer?’
‘Yes.’Now that she knew rescue was near, everything else seemed less intense.
‘I’ll have to give my wolf control so he can find you and so far when I’ve done so, I haven’t been able to talk to anyone. Don’t be scared if you can’t reach me. Just know that we’re coming. Hold on, be strong.’
She nodded again which amused them both as they realized what she was doing. ‘Please be careful, all of you!’
‘We will!’
‘I love you.’
