“A few months are nothing compared to hundreds of years.”

She did want to ask about the other women, but decided on something lighter to keep him happy. “Have you always lived here?”

“I have many properties, but this is the one my wolves enjoy the most. It has the woods, the mountains, and even a lake close by.”

“I see how that seems tempting.” She paused as she felt Blake’s thoughts clear up.

‘We are very close and planning your rescue now.’

‘Talking with Lycan now and getting more information.’

Blake immediately understood and retreated from her mind.

“What are you thinking about?”

She must have gazed off and quickly came up with an excuse. “I was imagining the lake and how one day I might be able to see it myself. If you allow, of course.”

He leaned forward and took her hand in his. Pain shot up her arm, yet she stayed calm. “As soon as you regain your strength, you’re free to move about with my wolves by your side. I can hear your heart racing as we speak, and I can see your excitement. I’m glad Selene has finally found me a mate who will appreciate what I can give her.”

Faking a yawn, she said, “Of course I’m excited to be by your side. Selene has blessed me with one of her true children.” She thought it would be best to go along with him. With no idea how much longer she had to be there, keeping him in a good mood could prove helpful.

“You seem tired, go rest. I’ll be waiting for you tomorrow.”

He picked up her hand and brought it to his lips, kissing her fingers. It felt like poison dripped from his lips and it took everything she had not to pull back and slap him across the face.

Feeling Blake trying to comfort her through the bond, she was able to smile at Solomon. “Good night.”

Walking toward the door, she felt his gaze on her. She quickly crossed the entrance hall where the man with the collar was waiting for her with the door open.

“I’ll be right here if you need anything.”

As she walked inside, she closed the door behind her. She heard the click of the key in the lock and knew she was locked away again. She quickly opened her mind to Blake and sat on the bed.

He was there for her right away.‘What happened? Are you hurt? I felt your pain.’

‘No, I’m not hurt, but it pains me when he touches me. It feels like acid running on my skin.’

She could feel his worry as he tried to comfort her through the bond. ‘We’ll get you soon.’

‘I got him talking a little. He said there were five wolves, and they are definitely stronger than you.’

His mind briefly separated from hers as he forwarded the information to the others before he returned. ‘Niev, are you sure he didn’t hurt you?’

‘Yes, I’m fine. I just don’t like him touching me. It just feels wrong.’

‘We’ll get you out tonight. We’re still working out the details.’

She shared a picture of the man with the metal collar. ‘He said he’ll be waiting in front of my door. I think he’s a wolf, but the collar doesn’t allow him to shift. I’m not sure if the Lycan counts him as one of the five or not. The Lycan himself can’t shift. He’s tall Blake, very tall, and he seems strong–stronger than the wolves.’

Blake could feel her fear that he or the others would get hurt and tried to reassure her.‘Thanks to everything you gave us, we’re not going in blind. We will get you out of there.’

Tears started to run down her face. ‘I don’t want anyone getting hurt because of me.’

‘I know and we all know the risks. Father has sent more warriors, so we’ll be fine.’

‘I love you, Blake. I can’t lose you.’

Niev could sense that Blake felt the same. ‘I love you too. We’ll start preparing now. We’ll eat and wait for the darkness of night.’
