“Me too. A change of scenery will do us both good. I have the first trip booked for next month.”

I stop walking, laughing when he tugs me along. “You booked it?”

“Yes. You earned the break. We both did. We’ll spend a beautiful month in France. I can’t wait to show you where I’m from and discover new places together.”

“I’m so excited.”

Releasing my hand, he slips his arm around my waist instead. “This is just the beginning of our life together, Eli. The past two years set up the framework. Now we get to truly live.”

I lean against his arm, and I swear the smile on my face could light a town. I couldn’t want anything more than I have with this man.

Michel

Standing side by side, Eli and I greet people as they enter the city center park where tonight’s event is. The lofts are no longer the location for parties, given they’ve all been renovated and purchased. And since it’s a perfect summer evening, the park is perfect.

I spend the next several hours chatting with residents and business owners, keeping a watchful eye on Eli as he does the same. He’s really come into his own since he moved back, finding comfort in intertwining his life and career with mine. We’re inseparable, and are among the few who can actually promise each other forever.

After things die down a bit, I find him sitting on a bench in front of the fountain, so I sit beside him. His face lights up as he clasps our hands together. Time to share my surprise.

“I have something fun to share.”

Eli turns to me, still smiling. “What?”

“The House of Orpheus has offered us the opportunity to join them from time to time.”

Eli tilts his head. “Join them?”

“You worried about having a safe and discreet outlet for our… vices.”

Understanding settles over his features. “No shit?”

I nod. “Some of their jobs are more high profile than others, but when they have some simpler tasks, they’ll let us know.”

“That’s so badass.”

“It is. I had no idea how much I was missing until Yves and Syn entered my life.”

“It was all meant to be. All of this. Even your deal with the demon.”

I nod, holding his gaze. “Yes.”

“But for the record, I would’ve taken you as you were. We could’ve lived in a shitty little apartment on the bad side of town and just got by every month, and I still would’ve been happy because I’d have you.”

Lifting our hands, I kiss the back of his. “I believe you, but honestly, I don’t regret a thing. I’m the man I always knew I could be, and you deserve so much more than a mediocre partner and a shitty apartment. You deserve everything I can now give you.”

“Even though all I want is your heart?”

“My love, you’ve always had that.”

“You should kiss me like you mean it. Just to make sure I know how much you love me.”

Smiling, I wrap my arms around him. “As often as necessary.”

Leaning in, I press our lips together, sinking into his familiar scent and warm mouth, slowly pushing the world away and losing myself in this man.

My journey was a rocky one, full of stops and starts, but the craziest decision I ever made led to happiness beyond my wildest dreams.

As my fangs slowly descend and my cock throbs in my jeans, I tear myself from the kiss. “I think we should finish this at home before we really give the town something to talk about.”

Eli smiles, brushing his fingers over my cheek. “Take me home and make love to me, my vampire.”

“Until neither of us can take it anymore, my love.”

As we pull ourselves up, slipping away from the party, Eli nudges my arm. “You know, it would be a shame to let those sexy masks of ours collect dust. Maybe we can find a use for them.”

I moan as desire floods my senses. “I think we can work something out.”
