“Yes, that’s it. Just a bit to the left and…oh, Klaus. Klaus.”

The way Sapphire was incoherently repeating his name told Klaus that he had hit the jackpot—aka her pleasure point, which was always a surefire way to get her to where he needed her the fastest. Lifting her butt higher, he ground from behind and thrust into the spot she had just guided him to. Her answering moan was music to his ears, a sound he would probably never get tired of.

“That’s it, sweetheart. Thrust back against me…yes. Just like that.”

His jaw clenched when she thrust back again, more eagerly than he had anticipated. He hissed when she ground hard, then paused to place her hands against the wall. Her body no longer thrust against him but rode his pounding, a quiet surrender that never failed to harden him further. She felt that inside her and threw her head back, blue eyes pinning him with a hot, dazed look.

“Faster, Klaus. Please.”

Curses rang out of his lips, gulped down by the sounds they could no longer hold back. He drilled into her like mad, watching the way she swallowed his cock from behind and how plump her ass was in his hands. Then she was clamping hard around him, a repeated squeeze until he saw stars and could no longer fight what was coming. Klaus let it come, pressing his body against her back, and pinching her nipple when she arched and rode his orgasm.

“I didn’t think we would add this place to our public record of places we shouldn’t risk getting caught in.”

Her words held humor and just a bit of exasperation. That was understandable, considering he had been the one to seduce her and cajole her into this position before he could stop himself…mostly because he couldn’t stop himself. He swore he had come here to check on her, not to ravish her like a madman and fuck her against a wall—a public wall too. The one in between his favorite kitchen and one of the guest rooms. But it couldn’t be helped, not with the way she lit up and grew irresistible when he…what had he been telling her again?

“If you didn’t show this much excitement over a new breed of flowers growing in the garden, then maybe I could have stopped myself from touching you.”

Sapphire groaned as if she couldn’t believe his audacity. Then she laughed, the sound like music to his ears and making him greedy to look at her. He turned her around and did just that, noting the way her eyes crinkled when she was amused.

“I can’t help it!” she protested. “A new breed is like…a new dragon in Oslo. Or a new creature sprouting from the magical pond. It’s a rare thing. What color are the flowers?”

“Blue. They kind of match your eyes.”

“Or red, to match this little cloak you have on.” When she belatedly buttoned up her blouse, hiding her tits from him, he groaned. “You’re driving me crazy, Saph.”

“Horny,” she corrected, her breath hitching. But she pushed him more decisively. “And Klaus, you’re a creature of utmost self-control. Please do control yourself while I check out those new blooms.”

He bit his tongue to stop himself from pointing out that she hadn’t been opposed to getting fucked against the wall—or the bookshelves, or the kitchen counter, or the anvil for the nth time. They still hadn’t done it in his tower.

“I will…behave myself.”

“And don’t follow me,” she warned lightly, her eyes twinkling. “I don’t want you to distract me from studying this discovery.”

The thought of easing her on her hands and knees right by the flowers—or on the flowers—made his cock surge, so maybe it was a good idea to spend some time apart. Klaus watched her leave, then deliberately marched in the other direction. He exited the castle through the front and made his way to Bernard, who was instructing the teenagers on how to strengthen the new hangout spot they were building.

“It needs rocks and hardened sand,” he concluded after watching them cut and shape wood to fit the new structure. “And it needs a side box as a hiding space. All the hangout spots do. Something easily camouflaged in the bushes.”

Bernard met his gaze and nodded, understanding he was thinking about the last attack and how Angela had been frozen in the bushes for a while. Klaus flew off to find Miko, who gathered around some men and began sorting and piling sand on rolling containers. He helped for a bit, then wandered off in search of other things to oversee.

As it turned out, there were a few things where his help was needed, mostly his dragon strength which made physical labor easier. Klaus helped with what he could, scolded Gerard for volunteering and disturbing his cast, and got Olga to tempt the man away with the promise of Lydia’s popular cookies. When Klaus looked up, he was taken aback to find the sky was nearing sundown and he had spent hours helping his people before they retreated to their underground sanctuary.

“I was thinking, maybe we could build an underwater boat,” Bernard suggested. “I forgot what they’re called but the human world has them. It can help our spies hide better for future missions out.”

Klaus wasn’t planning on sending out spies anytime soon and risking their lives when he could do the spying himself, but the idea had merit.

“Sure. Let’s plan it out when the others are ready. We would need our spies’ input too.”

“Of course. And as for the barriers…”

Bernard launched into more suggestions, but Klaus partially tuned the man out and repeatedly glanced at the castle, then the garden. Would Sapphire still be in the garden, admiring the flowers? Or would she be back inside the castle, her practicality taking over as she made her potions? Sneaking in and distracting her held an appeal, even while he knew he should be leaving her to her devices. But then again, would she welcome a seduction like she had the last time, letting him lay her down on the table and feast on her while she rested her legs on his shoulders?

“I have to go,” he said abruptly, waving Bernard off and already bulldozing his way to the garden. When he didn’t find her there, he turned toward the castle—and heard the ping of something a second before it vanished.

Klaus frowned, knowing his alarm didn’t sound like that and would have held. Awareness had him sneaking out of the garden and climbing a tree, where his keen gaze swept over Oslo and determined that nothing was amiss. But why was his brain insisting that something was?

Magic,he concluded, and the idea of it smothering his alarm completely had him fighting back a sense of panic. He beelined toward the closest setup, already searching his mind for a defense that didn’t involve his people’s pain and Sapphire’s peril. Puzzlement took over when he arrived there and found the alarm setup intact.

“What…?”
