She tipped her head to one side then took a bite of cookie, seeming to accept my answer. “That’s too bad. You missed out on all the fun,” she said around a mouthful of chocolate chips.

Kacey grabbed a cookie, then glanced at Lexi. “You want one?”

Lexi shook her head but stayed quiet.Weird.

I folded my arms across my chest. “So, what did I miss?”

Kacey took a bite. “Holmes hooked up with my brother.”

I choked on my spit. My mouth gaped open, and my arms fell to my sides. “No shit?”

Holmes brought one hand in front of her and did a back-and-forth motion that imitated smacking someone’s ass. God help us.

“And Hendrix got shit-faced,” Kacey continued.

He wasn’t the only one. I’d gotten a text from my Uber driver this morning telling me she had one of my shoes. I texted her back right away because I fucking loved those shoes.

I cleared my throat and swallowed hard. “Last time I checked he’s a grown man who can do whatever he wants.”

“True, but there was this one thing that was questionable—” Holmes set the half-eaten cookie on the table, then pulled her cell phone from her pocket and swiped around. “Here, I have a video.”

I shook my head. “I’m good. Thanks.” I already saw—and felt—about all of Hendrix’s ‘things’ that I could handle for one lifetime. “I want to know about Dallas.” I held my hand up for a high-five. “How in the hell did that happen?” I looked over at Kacey. “And how are you so calm about it?”

I gave myself a mental facepalm. This was Kacey. She was always calm.

Kacey finished her cookie, then wiped the corners of her mouth. Her expression went serious. “Like Hendrix, Dallas is a grown-ass man. As long as she keeps the details to herself, we’re good.” She eyed Holmes.

Keep the details to herself? This was Holmes. She’d have better luck asking a celebrity to stay off Twitter.

“You’re awfully quiet over there.” I looked at Lexi. “Any drunk hookup stories you care to share with the class?”

Please don’t say Hendrix.Please don’t say Hendrix.

She grabbed the pendant on her gold chain and zipped it back and forth.

Oh, God. I did the math and vomit worked its way up my throat. Ashton and Kacey. Dallas and Holmes. That left Hendrix and Lexi. And he was drunk.

“Lexi?”

She dropped her necklace and chewed on her bottom lip.

All the air whooshed out of my lungs. I faced Holmes. “What’s on the video?”

She swallowed.

I held out my hand. “Show me the video.”

I had no business being upset. I shouldn’t have been shaking. I wasn’t supposed to care.

“Kennedy, I was fucking with you. There’s no video.” She reached down to the table for the rest of her cookie. “Hendrix was just being Hendrix. And since Lexi can’t seem to find her lady balls, I’ll tell you.”

My vision blurred. The blood rushed to my ears. I wasn’t ready to hear this.

“Lexi went home with the blond guy.” Holmes interrupted my train of thought.

Wait. What?

I lifted my eyes to Lexi. “The bar blond guy? My blond guy?”
