Until the day comes…or until one of us is no longer breathing. I’m afraid that’s going to be the case, but I don’t tell her that. I simply nod my head and give her another kiss, wanting more of her.

One thing I will do is find our enemy before he finds us again.

Taylor

My body is sore when I climb onto the back of Christian’s bike. He spent the last hour exploring my body until there wasn’t an inch of me his lips hadn’t kissed. He behaves like we don’t have much time together. I choose to believe we have a lifetime.

He drives off, waiting to pull out into traffic. Two black motorcycles speed by, and instead of turning left to go to the clubhouse, he follows the motorcycles. I tighten my grip as he speeds up, weaving through traffic, his bike only inches from the vehicles.

“Christian!” I yell, but it’s no use.

Horns blare at us as we narrowly avoid a collision. Somewhere in the madness, we lose sight of the motorcycles and he slows, cursing and mumbling an apology.

“There!” I point them out, and he speeds off again. Whoever they are, he’s chasing them for a reason. They’re quite a distance ahead of us, but I do my best to keep my eyes on them.

The bikes pull up to a gated area, and the fence opens, letting them inside. Christian stops following them. He turns around and heads in the direction of the clubhouse.

“Who was that?” I ask when we get there. “Christian?”

“I’m sorry I put you in danger.”

“I wasn’t in danger. I was with you.” Putting my hands on his chest, I reassure him I’m fine, hoping to calm him down. “Why were you chasing those bikers?”

“I think they’re the bikers who attacked the clubhouse.”

“Okay, well, get the guys and go back. You know where they are.”

He shakes his head. “I can’t.”

“Why not?”

“They just went to the Fallen Eagles’ clubhouse.”

The RBMC and Fallen Eagles have a strange relationship. They’re supposed to be allies, but they definitely don’t trust each other. Perhaps it’s one of those keep your friends close and your enemies closer relationships. They have a common enemy. Of course, that is unless the Fallen Eagles have formed a new ally.

Dash eases the SUV to a stop at a safe distance from the Eagles’ clubhouse. I told him what I saw and asked him to go check it out with me. I don’t want to report anything to Mason until I have concrete proof our ally is protecting our enemy.

“I don’t see shit,” Dash complains. “You sure they went in there? Looks like it’s only the Eagles’ bikes.”

“Yeah.”

“So, you and Taylor, huh?” he asks, changing the subject.

“You’re such a chick.”

He laughs, shrugging. “Nothing wrong with settling down. It does a man good.”

“I’m not settling down.”

“Dude, that girl had you by the balls the moment you killed a man for her.”

“Mason ordered the hit, and Bishop was there, too. He did more damage than I did. Besides, it wasn’t for her. I was following orders.”
