He nods to my mother, and she jams a needle into my neck. I’m still begging them not to do this as I sink to the floor.

The van comes to a stop, and I look around despite having the blindfold on. The door opens, and strong hands grab my arms, pulling me from the vehicle. I scream and kick, unsure of what’s happening. The Harvester hits me, effectively shutting me up.

“Please don’t…don’t do this,” I say, blood dripping from my mouth.

The zip ties binding my wrists are cut free. The blindfold is removed.

“Tell Mason he owes me one.”

Without saying another word, he climbs back into the van and drives off.

The Harvester let me go. I should be happy. Ecstatic. But he wouldn’t let me go without a reason and not knowing that reason is terrifying.

The ride back to the clubhouse is a somber one. We lost two more members. I may not have liked Tripp, but that didn’t mean I wanted him dead. Mason called Dash and had him bring the SUV to pick up Sidney and the bodies of our brothers as well as Taylor’s stepsisters. He left us to clean up while he went to the clinic to get his shoulder stitched up. We don’t want anything being traced back to us.

All Sidney has done is laugh like a fucking loon. She won’t say where Taylor or the girls are. Won’t say who The Harvester is. Not that we really expected her to give us intel without a fight. We’ll have to torture that out of her.

In the meantime, we’re back at square one. Taylor’s necklace was found on the floor, so the option to track her is null and void. She’s with The Harvester, and I can’t accept that I may not see her again.

“Take her out back,” Mason instructs Hunter, then turns to me. “You stay here.”

“Fuck that! I’m going!”

Mason pushes me back. “You’re too close to this, and I don’t need a loose cannon in there before I can get the answers I need.”

“I can’t just stay here and do nothing,” I reply, shaking my head. “I…I have to…”

My voice trails off when I see her. Jesus, she’s here and she’s alive. She came back to me. I rush to her, pulling her into my arms. She cries on my shoulder.

“I love you, baby girl,” I say. “I should’ve said it sooner.”

She leans back, and I press a kiss to her lips, wiping away her tears. I’m never letting her go again.

“The things I did,” she cries, shaking her head. “You would be so ashamed of me.”

“Never. That will never happen. I promise.”

Mason clears his throat, reminding me we’re in the living room of the clubhouse. “Taylor, do you remember anything? Anything that could help us?”

“I…I don’t know. My mom trusted me pretty easily, but my sisters didn’t. They hated me being there. She didn’t say much in front of me, though, but she didn’t talk in front of them, either. She always spoke to The Harvester on the phone. We kept the girls in the warehouse until she said it was time to go.”

“Do you know where the girls came from?”

She shakes her head. “They were brought to the Eagles’ Clubhouse, but we moved them immediately.”

“So, there’s another holding place somewhere,” I comment.

“When, um, when we were at the last place, he came in and told my mom it was a good haul. Then, he told me to kill them all.”

“Why the hell would he want you to do that?” Mason asks.

“My mom didn’t tell him about me. I don’t know why. I think he was angry about that. He didn’t know who I was or that I would be there. He was testing me. When I couldn’t do it, my mom drugged me. He took me with him, but he let me go. I have no idea why. He took the other girls with him. I’m sorry I can’t help more.”

“Did he say anything?”
