When I reach the top of the stairs, I look down at her and kiss her softly.

“As long as there is breath in my lungs, I’ll never get tired of you, Felicity. Never,” I smile. “We’ll have rough times but we can get through anything. Right?”

Mmhmm,” she nods. “You and me.”

“Forever.”

“Forever,” she smiles brightly. “Now that you chased me down and put a ring on my finger, you’re stuck with me, Mr. Casserino.”

“You’ll hear no complaints from me. Not now. Not ever.”

I mean every word. I’ve waited far too long for this day and I’ll never waste the blessing that’s been given to me. What started as a childhood kiss has now become my future. I’d be an idiot to fight so hard for something just to let it slip through my fingers or ruin it.

“You’re in deep thought again, amore mio,” Felicity giggles. My love.“Why don’t you carry me to our room and show me just how excited you are to make me Mrs. Casserino?” she grins.

“With fucking pleasure,” I smirk, tossing her up and over my shoulders. “Don’t follow us!” I call out to the guards as I run the remainder of the way to the bedroom. Felicity laughs the entire way, playfully slapping my back. I carry her into the room and gently lay her on the bed.

“Are you ready for our new beginning?” I ask.

She smiles up at me.

“I’m ready for anything as long as we’re together,” she blushes. I stroke a strand of hair from her face and smile.

“I love you, Felicity.”

The three words I’ve desperately wanted to say to her are finally out in the open. She stares at me in disbelief. Her eyes slowly fill with tears.

“Baby, why are you sad?” I ask, preparing to wipe the tears.

“Not sad,” she sniffles, shaking her head. “Happy. Very, very happy.”

“Good. I only want to see you happy.” I trace her cheek lightly with my finger.

“I love you, Basque.”

Her words cause me to suck in a sharp breath as I digest her words. I had imagined her saying them a thousand times, but hearing them out loud is a dream come true.

“I’m going to love you for eternity, Felicity. Nothing will ever make me stop loving you. It’s you and only you,” I vow without thought.

“And I’ll love you until the end of time, Basque.” She leans up and kisses me. “It’s just you and me… Forever.”

Epilogue

Felicity

One year later…

I sit in the backyard, rocking Gilliana. Basque is a few feet away grilling for our family barbeque. He keeps looking back over his shoulder at us and smiling.

“I’m surprised he doesn’t have you sitting in front of him so he can keep a closer eye on you two,” Mia laughs beside me. She’s rocking her son, baby Luca, who is almost a year old.

“He had suggested it, actually,” I groan. “But I reminded him that the smoke wasn’t good for the baby’s lungs.”

“Typical man, overlooking the basic things.” We both laugh and let out a sigh. “Motherhood looks really good on you.”

“As it does on you,” I smile.

“Yeah, but I was a hot mess with the first one. You stepped into motherhood like a champ,” she laughs.
