“What the hell are you doing here?” I laugh, hugging her back.

“Us brats have to stick together,” she says, grabbing my hand and leading me out of the coffee shop.

Standing on the sidewalk, are men in black suits and ties. Clearly, her security team. They acknowledge me when I look at them.

“Boys, this is my baby cousin, Felicity. You are to take good care of her as though she is me. Understood?” she says, smiling.

“Abbiamo capito, signora,” they say in unison. We understand, ma’am.

“Good.” She turns to me. “Have you eaten?”

“Rosaline, it isn’t that I’m not happy to see you, but why are you here?” I laugh.

“I told you, us brats have to stick together,” she shrugs. “Nico called the entire family to see which of us had heard from you. That told me that you and him were fighting again so I have come to your rescue.”

“He won’t be happy,” I tease.

“Then he can deal with my husband,” she retorts with a grin.

Rosaline is married to Ademaro Bianchi, a Tacchelli Family hitman. He’s known in the mafia world. People don’t cross him because he always gets his mark.

“Not that I would allow Ademaro to kill Nico,” she rolls her eyes, “but I won’t allow him to bully you.”

“How’d you know he bullied me?”

“Because that’s what all of the older siblings in power do. Adrianna included,” she groans.

Adrianna Romano-Rossi, Rosaline’s oldest sister, is as ruthless as they come. When their father and his men were massacred, she wreaked havoc on Trenton, New Jersey. No ties to the mafia were safe there.

“I thought you two were on good terms, again?” I sigh.

“Oh, we are,” she laughs. “I just meant that I understood what you were going through and know what a pain in the ass it is to have a big brother or sister.”

“Well, I’m glad someone understands.” I wrap my arm around her waist. “Where are the babies?”

“They are at home in Portland. I flew here just to find you and see how I can help.”

“You’re the best.” I lean my head on her shoulder. “I just need to buy a few days away from him. Then I can come up with a plan and how to get Nico to agree to it.”

“I’m one step ahead,” she grins. “Hop in.”

One of the guys opens the door to a black SUV. Rosaline climbs in, while another guy takes my suitcase from me. I smile softly and then get in the SUV.

“Felicity, meet your stand-in,” Rosaline says, gesturing at a woman in the backseat. The woman bows her head slightly and smiles.

“Stand-in?”I ask confused.

“Let’s go for a ride, and I’ll explain everything.”

Her huge mischievous smile has me both excited and scared. What the hell is she up to and what does this woman have to do with it? All I can do is put on my seatbelt and pray I survive whatever Rosaline has up her sleeves.

Chapter Four

Basque

Nico is sitting at the head of the table. A vein in the side of his neck is pulsating. He’s ready to blow a gasket and it’s only a matter of time before he does.

Felicity’s little stunt has all of us on pins and needles. No one is safe to even breathe wrong around Nico. He’s snapping at everyone. Myself included.
