“Someone better give me a fucking update!” he growls, slamming his fists on the table.

“She was last seen checking into a hotel, but there’s been nothing–” Greg says; however, Nico throws a glass at the wall. It shatters on contact.

“I want something new. Not something I already fucking know!” Nico jumps up out of his seat and paces in front of the window. He is muttering under his breath.

I begin to say something but his phone rings. The whole room stares at his phone that is on the table.

Please, be good fucking news,I groan.

I know Felicity is safe and sound. She has connections throughout the city. Connections that aren’t afraid of Nico. Wherever she is, I’m sure she’s in good hands, which eases some of my worries. However, it doesn’t extinguish my anger for her running off without telling me.

Nico walks over to the table and answers it. He places it on speakerphone.

“Yeah?” he says coldly.

“Word is, she just got on a plane with Rosaline Bianchi, Boss,” Carlile replies, making me sit up in my seat.

Rosaline was here? Why the hell would their cousin come to Chicago?

“Keep digging,” Nico orders and then hangs up on Carlile. Nico quickly calls someone else on his phone.

“Hello?” a woman answers.

“Rosaline?” Nico growls.

“Nico,” Rosaline retorts, giggling.

“You find this funny?”

“You shouldn’t ask me questions when you have me on speakerphone.” There’s amusement in her voice. Nico looks around the room. Everyone lowers their eyes except me. He may be my best friend and boss, but Felicity is my life.

“Say what you have to say,” Nico says, sitting back down in his chair.

“Well, dear cousin, I assume you are looking for something? Perhaps someone?’ Rosaline chuckles.

“Rosaline, why are you fucking with me? Put Felicity on the phone, now.”

“I’m sorry. Did you forget I don’t answer to you?” Her voice is cold as ice. “I now see why your sister decided to leave. Your manners are impeccable.”

“Rosaline,” Nico pinches the bridge of his nose. “I don’t have time for fucking games. Put Felicity on the phone. Now!”

“Not a chance in hell. You need a lesson on manners.”

The call ends. Half the room looks like they’re about to die of a heart attack or bolt out the door. Nico was already in a foul mood and now Rosaline has just added explosives to the fire. Royally screwing all of us.

“Is there something in the damn air!” he asks, slamming a fist down onto the table. “Why is every woman in this family moody as–”

The doors fly open, revealing a very angry Mia. We all stand out of respect as she storms through the room over to Nico.

“We’re what, Nico? Moody as what?” she screams at him. “YOUare the problem. Constantly on a power trip. Trying to control everyone. We’re your family, not your damn dog!”

“We’ll be out in the hallway, Boss,” I say, gesturing for everyone to leave the room.

“No! Everyone sit the hell down!” Nico roars. All of our shoulders slump in defeat. No one wants to listen to him and Mia argue. It isn’t our business nor is it a safe place to be.

“Leave us!” Mia shouts, pointing at the door.

“Mia, try to not upset the babies,” I say softly. She smiles kindly at me and then glares at Nico. “See! That’s how you should be acting. Instead, you’re acting like a lunatic.”
