“All right, Sophie, flip over and give me that ass.”

CHAPTER17

Sophie

The next morning, I drop onto a barstool for breakfast only to be reminded of the tender place on my cheeks where Hunter spanked me last night. It’s not sore enough to be painful while sitting, just enough of a reminder how much I like it when he leaves his handprint on my ass. Just thinking about our evening together has my panties dampening.

I’m about to let my brain replay last night with him when Emma walks into the kitchen.

“Good morning!” she says, heading straight for the coffee. “How was the ballet? Griffin said you went with a friend?”

“Um, yeah. It was great. I loved it.” I take a bite of banana, deliberately pretending her second question was more of a statement.

She disappears behind the refrigerator door, a carton of creamer in her hand when she emerges.

A moment later Griffin walks in making a beeline for Emma. I watch as he greets her, one arm wrapping around her waist pulling her in close while his free hand slides to the back of her neck. What starts as a chaste kiss soon turns into a full-on make-out session against the refrigerator.

I cough loudly to let him know he’s got an audience.

“Shit.” He pulls back, but still holds onto Emma’s waist. “Sorry, Soph. I didn’t realize you were there.”

“Yup, it’s me. Third wheel roomie at your service.” I salute.

He presses his lips together. “We’re happy you’re here with us.”

Emma nods enthusiastically.

They’re both liars, but I’m grateful for them all the same.

Emma gives Griffin a quick kiss before extracting herself to finish making her coffee.

“Yeah, well, I’m hoping it won’t be for too much longer. I got a waitressing job at The Penrose. I start training tomorrow night.”

“The Penrose,” Emma coos. “Fancy.”

“Johnathan had a connection,” I say.

“Hmm.” Griffin’s brow furrows in concern. “Is that going to work with your internship? Because that should be your priority.”

“It’s still my priority.”

“Eggs?” Griffin asks and I shake my head.

“Are you feeling okay?” He studies me.

“Yeah, just changing up my routine.”

Emma smiles at me. “You can’t be low on potassium. You’ve been consuming a lot of bananas.”

Griffin nods, then I watch as he and Emma move around the kitchen, doing a choreographed dance of making breakfast. Griffin pulls out a pan while Emma wordlessly hands him the eggs. Emma slides a bowl over to him so he can start cracking the eggs. They’re adorable. I imagine what it would be like to find a person that although you haven’t known them long, you’re completely in sync with.

A person that you not only can laugh with, but are so insanely attracted to that your body starts tingling anytime you’re near them.

Hunter.

I had the best time with him last night. The sex was phenomenal, but so was our time at the ballet, talking and teasing each other.

“How was the ballet?” Griffin asks, whipping up the eggs.
