“Prep school. I was sixteen.”

She chews quietly, then a huge smile spreads across her face. “So basically, you’ve been having sex for twenty years. Almost as long as I’ve been alive.”

I groan. “This again? I thought you were good with the age difference.”

“I am. It’s just funny to think about.” She laughs. “And to tease you.”

“Careful.” I growl, my hand finding her thigh under the table and giving it a squeeze. “My palm is feeling itchy.”

“In that case, let me search up some ‘you’re so old’ jokes.” She laughs, pretending to reach for her phone, but a moment later, she returns to eating. “I’m not complaining. I get the benefit of all your practice.”

I give her a cocky grin. “I’ll be sure to give you multiple benefits later.”

“Can’t wait.”

She bites her lip and her eyes light. That look has me holding on to my willpower to keep eating and not bend her over this table right now.

I look away and take another bite, then shift the conversation to something far less stimulating.

“How’s work? Is Hannah driving you nuts yet?”

“Work is good. And your sister is an absolute treasure.”

“How much did she pay you to say that?” I ask, grinning.

“She’s a client, so she’s technically paying, but even if she wasn’t, I’d still think she’s pretty great.”

“How many weddings do you work on at once?” I reach for another sticky rib and offer it to Sophie.

“Mmm.” She moans around the bite.

“Good, right?”

“So good.”

“It’s the special sauce.” I reach over and wipe the corner of Sophie’s mouth where said sauce has gathered. I press my thumb against her lips and she opens her mouth, swiping the sauce off my thumb. I’m too easily distracted around her. I drop my hand and motion for her to continue. “You were saying? The number of weddings.”

“Right. There are twenty weddings right now that are in some stage of planning. I’ve worked out a color-coded system to keep track of them based on venue.”

“That’s wild. What’s your favorite venue so far?”

“Hmm. The Botanic Gardens were pretty, but the humid weather made it miserable. I think The Plaza Hotel is going to be idyllic. The Stephens-Lautner wedding is there this Saturday. I’ve only walked through it once, but it’s pure magic. I can’t wait to see the ballroom decorated.”

I smile at her enthusiasm. “The Plaza is nice.”

She smirks. “I’m sure you’ve stayed there a million times.”

“I’ve been to The Palm Court for business dinners and to countless events, but never had a reason to stay.”

She nods. “I guess if you’ve lived here all your life, it’s not as fascinating.”

I collect our empty bowls and the remaining trash to put them in the bag.

“Thank you again for dinner.” I lean forward to capture her lips and the kiss turns hungry quickly. With the door locked and Griffin long gone, we could pick up where we left off. I could easily bend Sophie over my desk and slide between her legs, but right now, I’m in the mood to lay her out on my bed and take my time with her. I pull back and grab her purse off the table. “Come on, let’s get out of here.”

The pads of my fingers trace along Sophie’s bare back. Every inch of her skin is silky smooth. At the base of her spine, my fingers reach the swell of her ass, gently caressing the pink flesh that my palm left in its wake. I’ve barely had a moment to observe how beautiful she looks, skin glistening, hair a mess from my hands before she shifts and starts moving toward the edge of the bed.
