He pecked my lips once. Twice. Three times. “Thank you.”

We shared a few more kisses, but then we both realized I was holding the eggs hostage from the kitchen, so we stood and walked hand in hand back inside the palace. After dropping off the basket, Florin led me back to the room we shared with Theon, Nica, and Wey.

As soon as we shut the door behind us, Theon asked, “Did it work?”

Since I had no idea of his meaning, I turned to Florin, who glanced at me for a moment before nodding at our mage. “Yes.”

Theon let out a loud squeal, a sound I’d never expected to hear from him—or anyone, really—and Nica and Wey both stared at him with wide eyes. Not noticing his audience, Theon gestured to us, and again, I turned to Florin for answers.

Florin blew out a breath. “Well, you see… I may have followed you out there with a purpose this morning. A purpose I shared with our dear mage before I left.” He bit his lip, and I blinked at him before smiling.

“You wanted to kiss me?”

He nodded with a sweet smile.

Gesturing to us both, Theon said, “Well?”

Florin chuckled, grabbed my collar, and gently pulled me down as he went up on his toes. His lips pressed to mine again, and I heard that same unusual squeal come from our mage, but Florin deepened our kiss, distracting me. With how tiny he was, I was bent in half, so I put my arms around him and lifted him so I could stand to my full height. He laughed without breaking the kiss and wrapped his arms around my neck.

“You two are gorgeous together,” Theon said, his voice close. When he touched my arm, I broke my kiss with Florin, sending the fae a smile before we turned to look down at our mage. Theon smiled. “Stunning together.”

I felt my cheeks heat, and Florin put a hand to one but spoke to Theon, saying, “Adorable.”

“Agreed.” The two shared a grin that made my cheeks heat further. “Come back to bed. We still have time before breakfast. I want a cuddle fest.”

Nica popped his head up from where he was spooning Weylyn and said, “Our little bird is so demanding this morning.”

He and Wey shared a chuckle, and the gargoyle said, “Alright, precious, come on in.” He lifted the blanket and opened his arms.

We had two beds in our room—one large enough to fit all five of us, and another smaller bed in case anyone needed to sleep alone or with only one other. In the three weeks we’d been in this room, no one had taken advantage of the small bed. After being apart for so long, I wasn’t surprised. We were still finding our new rhythm, still figuring out how all our pieces matched together. We were different now. The months of freedom and separation had changed us, but I had no doubt that we’d find a new way to make our puzzle fit.

Theon climbed into Wey’s arms and turned his back to him so he could face us. I glanced at Florin, who was still in my arms, offering a smile as I carried him over. He kissed me and climbed in beside Theon. Then he did the same thing, giving his back to Theon to face me, and suddenly I had four men—four strong, amazing, kind men—looking at me expectantly.

Who ever could’ve imagined that a half-orc like me would find such an amazing family as this one?

With a grin on my face, I joined them, scooted close to Florin, and draped my arm over him and Theon. If it would’ve been Nica on the other side of our mage, I wouldn’t have been so careful with where my hand ended up.

As if knowing my thoughts, Wey glared at me over the top of Theon and Florin’s heads. “Don’t even think about it, orc.”

I glared back. “I wouldn’t touch you if you paid me all the gold in the kingdom, gargoyle.”

Wey opened his mouth to respond, but all three of the others started snickering, and Nica said, “Stop acting like you two don’t love each other.” He reached over Wey and patted my hand, leaving his there. I didn’t move away.

Wey made a disgusted face that I was sure I shared.

Theon said, “I know, right? They’re ridiculous.”

“So ridiculous,” Florin added.

I frowned down at him. “You, too?”

He sent me an innocent smile. “Maybe…?”

I snorted and smacked a kiss to his lips, a small flutter moving through my chest knowing I could do that now.

Theon let out a dreamy sigh. “I love watching all of you love each other.”

My gaze was still on Florin’s, and I smiled at him before turning to my angel. “And we all love you.” Everyone mumbled their agreements, and Theon’s face lit up like the sun. I wasn’t sure I’d ever seen anything more beautiful than his happiness.
