“You don’t know that.” Her stomach dipped.

In a move that was so fast, she got dizzy, Colt flipped onto his back and had her attached to his front.

“Give me your hand.” The intensity of Colt’s eyes caused Ellie to tremble. She pushed up and held out her hand. He rested it over his heart, pressing his hand over hers. “Do you feel that?”

Boom, boom, boom. His heart pounded like thunder.

“Yes.”

“That’s what you do to me, angel. You make my heart soar. You make me want to do better, to be better. You’re my first thought of the day, the last of the night. It’s you that I want, Ellie McMahon. Only you.”

“I don’t know what to say.” Ellie dropped her forehead to his.

“You don’t have to say anything. All you need to do is know you make my life better.”

The way his steel blue eyes caressed her face had her insides melting. She flipped her hand over and dragged his to the center of her chest. “You do the same to me, Colt. You make my heart go haywire. You make me feel safe, protected and cherished.” She pressed a soft kiss to his lips.

Holding her gaze, Colt kissed her again. “I will always keep you safe. I will always protect you. And until my very last breath, angel, I will cherish you. I give you my word.”

A swell of emotion washed over Ellie. She dropped her head to into his neck to hide her watering eyes. “That was the sweetest thing anyone’s ever said to me.”

Colt’s arms tightened around her. “Buckle up, angel. ‘Cause there’s a lot more where that came from.”

Happy beyond measure, Ellie inhaled the Obsession, still clinging to Colt’s skin. The L-word almost came out of her mouth, but she couldn’t be the first one to say it. It was way too soon. However, what she could do was share with him her body, in a way she’d never shared with anyone before. She moved from his chest, turned around, and crawled onto her knees.

“I’m ready for you.” She gave her bottom a wiggle.

His fingers slipped between her legs. “Fuck. You are.”

“Always.” She glanced over her shoulder. “I’m yours.”

On a roar, Colt flew out of the bed. He grabbed her hips and dragged her to the edge of the mattress. “Brace yourself, angel.”

Ellie licked her lips, her heart swelling like a balloon, as Colt fisted his shaft and gave it a few strokes.

“Ready, angel?”

“For you, always.” She fisted her hands into the sheets and held on for dear life, because she was about to go on the ride of her life.

CHAPTER TWELVE

“We have twenty-four hours before Lizzie is back.” Ellie called out from the kitchen. “What do you want to do? I have a few ideas. And before you get all excited, big guy, my plans do not include fur-lined cuffs. However, a silk blindfold is a distinct possibility.”

“Whatever you want, angel.” Colt called out, as he stared at the message Zak had just sent to his phone.

The FBI has all the Barracudas in custody. Except one. Their leader, Bear. Keep Ellie close. His men are singing like canaries. They say he’s coming for her. We’re working ‘round the clock on our end. As soon as I hear anything, I’ll contact you. Be safe, brother.

The message was followed by a picture of Bear. He was an ugly bastard. Bald, with a grey and white beard and beady, black eyes.

Fuck.

Colt got up from the couch and paced. Ellie was happy. She hadn’t had a nightmare in days. And damn it, he wanted to keep things that way.

However, he didn’t want to keep things from her. At the same time, he didn’t want to worry her unnecessarily. If the FBI had been able to unearth the slugs from their hiding places, they were going to find Bear. It was just a matter of time.

At least that’s what he kept telling himself as he marched across the carpet.

“Hey, everything okay?” Ellie smiled at him from the doorway.
