“OOOOOOOOHHHHHH,” she yells out.

“What’s wrong?” I ask, worried.

“I think I just felt a contraction,” she screams out.

“Do you need me to get someone?” I ask, a little freaked out.

“I’m sure it will be okay,” she says through gritted teeth.

“I’m here, baby, for whatever you need,” I tell her and get the look of death for my support.

“Then how about you push this baby out.” She’s gritting her teeth again, and I look at the machine to see the line is high.

“I would if I could, baby.”

“DO NOT CALL ME, BABY!” she yells at me.

I gulp. No one said to expect this.

“I’m sorry, daddy,” she whispers, tears falling from her eyes.

“It’s okay. I know this is tough. I wish I could take the pain away, but you are amazing.”

Thankfully the doctor comes in. “Are you feeling any contractions yet, Sam?

“Yes,” Samantha whimpers out, trying to be strong.

“Let’s see how you are doing then.”She gloves up, then lifts the sheet, and says, “Do you feel like pushing?”

“YES,” a demon coming out of my wife’s mouth that I have never heard before, replies to the doctor.

“Good, I see the baby’s head, so let’s go ahead and on your next contraction, I want you to push down hard.”

The contraction hits, and my wife is bearing down and pushing.

“You’re doing great, Sam,” the doctor says when Samantha takes a breather. “We are going to push one more time, so bear down hard.”

Samantha nods, then begins pushing so hard I swear the blood vessels in her face are about to burst.

“Okay, Sam, your baby’s head is out, I want you to wait till I tell you to push, and not before then, okay?”

Samantha nods her head, trying to catch her breath.

“Okay, last push. Let’s meet your baby,” the doctor says, and Sam pushes.

Just then, I hear the sweetest little cry.

“It’s a boy,” the doctor tells us before placing our son on Sam’s chest.

“Have you picked out a name for him?”

Samantha looks up at me, and I nod, “Raymond Michael Yates,” she tells the doctor.

“Beautiful name for a beautiful boy,” she smiles at us.

I lean down and kiss my wife’s lips before rubbing my finger across my son’s face.
