“She can’t. She’s going to be tied up on Sunday.”

I choke on air, swallowing to clear my throat.

I didn’t miss the insinuation in his voice, and by the glint in Logan’s eyes, either did he.

What is he doing?

Sensing the tension and my cheeks flaming, Logan flashes me a warm smile, his eyes darting from me to Jake.

He’s making this too obvious.

“I thought as much.” What does that mean? “Maybe another time.”

With a stern shake of his head, Jake says, “Not likely, buddy.”

Grinding my teeth, I point a finger at Jake while keeping my eyes on Logan. “I’m sorry about him. He’s obviously hormonal.”

Logan chuckles, dipping his chin before casting a knowing look in Jake’s direction.

They’re both smug bastards.

I wait until Logan is back in his seat before I spin on my heels. I slam straight into flames, his fiery stare licking my skin. For a second, I forget what I want to say.

“What are you doing?” I whisper, grinding my teeth, and finally finding words.

His expression is impassive, giving nothing away about what’s going on in his head. “You don’t want to go on a date with Lullaby Logan.”

“Why the hell not?”

“I’ve been friends with him since college. You’ll be another notch on his bedpost. Nothing more.”

Ouch.

I ignore the sting in my chest, lowering my head in an attempt to cool my boiling blood.

He infuriates me sometimes.

Curiosity getting the better of me, I ask, “Since when do you call him Lullaby Logan?”

“Since right now.”

“Why?”

“Because he’ll bore you to sleep.”

“You don’t know that,” I retort.

“I do because I know you,” he replies with the same even tone to his voice.

“You don’t know shit.”

He has the gall to snicker.

“First, I’m just a notch on his bedpost, and now he will put me to sleep. Decide. Besides, maybe I’ll enjoysleepingwith him.”

Jesus, Claire, you can do better than this.

My argument is running dry, unlike my panties, because I can’t think straight when he stands this close.
