As soon as she walked into the room, Kenzie sighed with joy. The wall on the left was made up of built-in bookshelves that were filled top to bottom with DVDs. Marshall went straight to the popcorn maker to get it started, and everyone else grabbed a seat.

Aiden claimed one of the middle couches and got a blanket before sitting down, but when she started to sit next to him, he shook his head.

“You get to pick the movie since it’s your first time.”

“Oh yay! I’ll pick a good one.” She ran back over to the DVD collection and started browsing.

They were organized by genre.

At first, she thought romance, then maybe comedy, but decided on something different when she spotted the horror section. She giggled as she picked the movie, then turned to face the others, “So, ya’ll have to watch whatever I picked right?”

Marshall was passing out popcorn but paused to look at her suspiciously, “You’re not going to make us watch a chick flick, are you?”

She smirked, “Nope!”

“Uh huh. Then yes, we’ll watch whatever you picked without complaint.”

She walked over to the disc player and popped the movie in, then hid the movie box next to the player so they wouldn’t see what it was before it started.

When she sat down next to Aiden, he pulled her close, so her back was leaning against his chest. She kicked her feet up onto the couch and curled against him as he wrapped his arms around her. She was just thinking it couldn’t get any better when he draped the blanket around them.

Then Marshall handed her a bucket of popcorn and a cherry slushie, “Is cherry, okay? There’s also blue raspberry.”

She smiled, “Cherry is perfect, thank you!”

“You’re welcome. So, what did you pick?”

She popped a piece of buttery popcorn into her mouth and chewed before answering, “You’ll have to wait and see.”

They were on the third movie preview when Raven came bouncing into the room. She went to Marshall first, “So, I went with bracelets. They are bigger than a ring and allow for more magic. Now it’s not a foolproof solution but it will offer protection from anyone who wants to harm you and from dark magic. It might not stop it completely, but it will lessen the impact significantly depending on the attack. I also added a tracking spell.”

She handed one to each of them. Kenzie studied hers first. It was a sturdy iron bracelet that looked like it had been hammered into the shape of a simple bangle. She thought it was beautiful. She looked over at Marshall’s to see it was a little thicker, but basically the same.

“Go ahead and put them on. And once you do, you will be the only one who can ever take it off. No one will be able to see it except you and me. They also won’t be able to read any magic from it since I cloaked it.” She nodded at them to put them on.

Kenzie slid the bangle onto her wrist and watched as it adjusted itself to fit her better, “Woah. It changed to fit me.”

“Mine did too.” Marshall was studying the bracelet and pulled it on and off several times to watch it grow and shrink each time.

Raven rolled her eyes, “It’s magic Marshall. Quit playing with it.”

Marshall dropped his wrist with the bracelet in place, “Fine bossy.” He pulled her into a quick hug, “Thank you Raven.”

Raven nodded, then leaned over to give Kenzie a hug as well, “No sweat. It would break my heart if anything happened to you two. So, let’s not let that happen, okay?”

Aiden squeezed Kenzie, “I second that.”

The others all voiced their agreements as well.

Then the movie title popped up and everyone’s attention diverted back to the screen as Raven took a seat next to Darren. She chuckled, “Seriously Kenzie? This is what you chose out of everything?”

Kenzie shrugged, “It seemed fitting and kind of funny.”

Marshall shook his head as he pushed play. Kate Beckinsale’s voice echoed out of the surround sound speakers asUnderworldstarted.

As they watched a werewolf try to attack Celine and get his butt kicked, Raven sighed, “You know, you guys kind of look like puppy dogs compared to these werewolves.”

Marshall and Aiden both threw a handful of popcorn at her, which she picked up from her lap and ate. Marshall scoffed as he watched the werewolves on screen, “They are pretty badass, but the vampires totally kick their butts in this movie. Well, mostly. We would never let the vampires win so we are way more badass.”
