A hot blonde would just be icing on the cake…or whipped cream on the Blow Job shots I knew someone would order at some point that night.

Chapter Two

Sicily

I sat at the table, watching my best friend, Amber with her family, celebrating her brother's graduation. I had been to Berkeley a couple of times, but hadn't really spent a ton of time there. I was going to college myself, but definitely not there. That was one place that neither me nor my family could afford for me to go. I hadn't even tried to get into it. But Amber went there, and her brother was graduating from there, and her father and mother were both alumni. I was already done with classes, having taken my last final the week before, and was more than ecstatic to come out to spend some time with her before heading to my new internship back in Ohio for the summer.

Going to graduation was exciting though, and it made having another year left of college a little bit easier. My major was business, but I was focusing my efforts on the technology field, hoping to snag a job as a project manager for a software firm or tech company when I got my degree. I would most likely end up in grad school, but I figured I'd try my hand at life a little bit before I committed myself to another three years. I had worked hard at school my entire life, coming from a family that I was on the path to be the first college graduate of, and mostly because we were your typical, not quite middle class family, living on a farm in Ohio, fully expected to live and die there.

But that was never my intention. I loved my mom and dad, and my little sister, but I was definitely ready to spread my wings and not get locked down in my hometown like so many of the girls I graduated high school with. Amber was one of those girls from my high school class, and she was definitely on her way out, but most likely would end up back in Ohio because her family owned a huge corporation there and she had every intention of working in the family business. But Amber's Ohio was a little bit different than mine. Hers was a giant house in a fancy neighborhood, with no limit to how far she could go in her family's company. It wouldn't shock me at all if she were VP next to her brother when her father retired. And from the looks of the bags under his eyes, and his constant grumpy attitude, I could tell he was nearing that time.

We all went out to eat at an Italian restaurant that Amber's brother loved, and even though they had wanted to go to the steak house, it was far too busy for us to stand in line. Everybody was going there, and I knew it wasn't quite up to par for that family anyway. Amber wasn't stuck up though. And they always treated me like family. Nonetheless, I was ready for dinner to be over so Amber and I could celebrate the end of our junior year, and let our hair down a little bit.

As the family talked amongst themselves, Amber leaned back next to me pressing her shoulder to mine, talking quietly. “So, after we ditch the parents, there's a huge graduation party tonight at this bar right outside of town. Basically, everybody is going, except of course my lame ass brother who really has never had an interest in going to parties. I told him that we'll have enough fun for him as well.”

I chuckled, giving her the thumbs up. I trusted her to pick the party. I was never really good at that kind of stuff and Berkley was her turf. Besides, she had only picked bad party locations once or twice, and that was just a drop in the bucket considering how many parties we had been to together since high school. We both had intense lives. Amber because her family was very strict, and expected a lot out of her, and mine because I was constantly watching my parents struggle to pay the bills, especially after my father got hurt on the job several years before. So, after our daily duties, we would sneak out together, throw our hair down, and party with the best of them. Berkeley was definitely ten steps up from the Ohio field parties we used to go to though. I was absolutely down for drinking and laughing with my best friend, without the worry of having to check for ticks after leaving.

“Everyone's gonna be there?” I asked, watching Amber grin wildly and nod her head. "You know what that means.”

Amber chuckled and we whispered in unison. “Hot guys, perfectly made drinks, and tequila.”

Our muffled giggles were cut short at the sound of Amber's mother's somewhat unfeeling tone. “What are your plans tonight Amber? Are you hanging out with the family or...”

Amber sat up, primly putting her hands in her lap. “No offense, mom, but I'm definitely hitting up a graduation party.”

Her mother didn't even act like she heard her, and her father nodded, his eyes shifting between the two of us. “Amber, you know what to do if you're arrested... And you can take one of the cars, the driver will drive you guys wherever you need and wait for you. I don't want you out there driving after drinking.”

Amber sarcastically gasped, putting her hand to her chest. “Why father, whatever do you mean? What is this drinking you speak of.”

Amber's brother snorted as he took a gulp of his tea. “Nice try, Princess. I think you're kind of old to be playing that one off at this point.”

Amber pointed at her brother, narrowing her eyes. “Zip it. Don't think, just because you graduated today, that I won't whoop your ass when we get back to the hotel.”

Amber's father chuckled, shaking his head. “Knock it off you two. Just don't miss your flight tomorrow. We have to be at the airport at 10:00 AM sharp. We're leaving the hotel at 8.”

Amber batted her eyelashes at her dad, smiling sweetly. “Of course, daddy. Sicily and I will be there with bells on. Besides, it doesn't matter how hungover I get from all the water I drink tonight... All I need to do is get my body in the car and your driver will take us there.”

Her mother shook her head and rolled her eyes, starting a conversation with Amber's brother as her father looked over at her, laughing.

We went through the motions with the family, and then headed back to the hotel we were staying at to change into something less conservative and more into ‘party until you drop’ clothing. Of course, Amber went with her signature skin tight mini dress, and I went with a pair of cut off booty shorts, a crop top, and my Chuck Taylors, something I never left the house without, unless of course Amber made me put on heels like that morning. I normally didn't dress like that, but I was on vacation and I hadn't brought anything for partying. I was literally wearing Amber's clothes out of her suitcase. It was either that or I wore her other body-con dress, which I knew I would regret later when I was stumbling around drunk as hell, flashing my nethers to everyone at Berkeley.

We waited, as usual, until about an hour after the party started to show up. We were always super excited, ready way too early for a party, but did not like to be the first people there. By the look of the droves of people outside the building, packed into the patio, and the loud music and roar of voices coming out of the door each time it opened, we were definitely not the first people there. Everyone was ready to let their hair down, and I was no exception. I had no real expectations for the night, but there was this one guy I had seen at graduation, wearing an expensive suit with a pair of Chucks and the geekiest smile I had ever seen in my life. Normally, when a guy stares at me like that, I just ignore him, but there was something about that smile that caught my attention.

Not to mention the fact that he was absolutely drop dead gorgeous and looked like a model, surfer boy from the pages of a magazine. I half kicked myself when we left and I didn't go talk to him, but Amber was the one with the balls in our friendship, and I was rarely the one to approach a guy. Not to mention that we were all standing there with our family, and it would have been weird for me to just walk up.

Standing in the crowded bar, Amber looked around, waving at a couple of people that she knew. She leaned over and yelled into my ear over the music. “I'm gonna go scope us out a place to stand, and you go grab some Long Island Iced Teas from the bar. Here.” She handed me her platinum "family" credit card. “Just start a tab under my name. They know me anyways. I'm going to go look on the patio.”

We always divided and conquered, that was our way. I maneuvered myself between people, gave a couple of guys the eyebrow lift as they whistled at me when I walked past, and finally made my way up to the bar. The girl in front of me had four beers she was carrying, so I stepped out of the way and then quickly slid into her spot. The bartender kept walking right past me, but then again there were about 500,000 people ordering at the same time. I stood perched, ready to catch their attention.

“Hi,” a guy's voice said next to me.

“Hi,” I replied with a bit of irritation before looking over at him. As soon as I did though, I let that irritation drop from my facial expression and shook my head. “Oh, hey. Mr. Smiley from earlier. Fancy meeting you here.”

I couldn't help but notice how cute it was that his cheeks went a little bit red and he nervously chuckled, looking down at the bar top. “Yeah, sorry. You caught me off guard and that was all I had.”

I nodded, smirking, watching the bartender at the other end. “So, that's not your normal flirtation? I just literally caught you off guard? That's a relief.”

He laughed and I glanced over at him smiling. He put out his hand to mine. “I'm Daniel.”
