The first song that came on was an oldie but goodie by 2Pac. Guy started nodding his head along with the beat as it began playing. "I see you're a woman with eclectic taste," he said with a wink.

I grinned. Swaying to the beat, I kicked off my shoes.

"Now that I think of it, I remember you and my sister when you were both around 16. You were dancing like crazy in the basement. I think you had spent the weekend at a sleepover at my house or something."

I laughed, embarrassed he remembered us dancing in our halter tops and ponytails. "Yeah, I remember that too. Your sister and I went to the same high school. We were pretty good friends back then."

"Yeah, you were," Guy said, his voice softening as he looked at me. "You were always so sweet and friendly. Always willing to help out anyone who needed it."

"That's me," I said, feeling a bit bashful under his gaze. I quickly downed the rest of my wine and walked over to the counter to grab the bottle. "Want some more?"

"Sure,” he said, holding out his glass for me to refill.

"No, I take it back. You have to work for your next drink,” I said, batting my eyelashes. "Not until you dance with me!”

Guy held out his glass and grinned. "I'm in."

After scrolling through my options, I decided on "Dancing Queen" and clicked play. "Wow, okay! Let me see your moves." He whipped off his tie and unbuttoned his shirt a little. Guy was an excellent dancer. He would spin me out at specific moments and effortlessly bring me back in again. I could feel his hips grinding against mine to the music’s beat. He pulled me close to him a few times with his hand on my lower back, leaving me breathless.

Nolan had never worn cologne before, so when I caught a whiff of Guy's brand, I got unexpectedly aroused by the musky scent mixed with amber. I leaned my head against his shoulders a few times to breathe it in. Guy smelled like a man's man - which was more intoxicating than the wine.

My feet barely touched the ground as Guy spun me around for what felt like the hundredth time that night. I didn't want the evening to end, but I knew I had a book signing in the morning. "You dance so well," I told him breathlessly, ignoring my previous thought. "Were you trained professionally?"

His green eyes peered into mine, and my knees went weak once again. "Not really, I just..."

I threw my head back and laughed. "I know... You were a frat boy, right?"

"I've been called worse." Guy pulled me in for a quick dip, then spun me around. "But that was a long time ago."

Meagan hadn't mentioned her brother that often to me. But what I did gather from the conversations I overheard—Guy was a love ‘em and leave ‘em kind of man. And that worried her. She had mentioned once that a few of his women friends had taken advantage of his generosity.

"So what do you do now? I assume you don't party as hard as you used to."

He chuckled and shook his head. "No, I don't. I'm too busy with the company."

"Impressive," I said, genuinely surprised. "I wouldn't have guessed that."

"What about you?" he asked, twirling me around again. "What does the famous author do all day?"

I pretended to think about it for a moment. "Well, I sleep in until noon, then lounge around in my pajamas all day and write whatever comes to mind."

Guy laughed out loud at that. "Is that really what you do?"

I shrugged. "No, not really. I have to be up early for my book signings and interviews."

"Ah, so you're one of those authors in demand.” He gestured toward the book he had bought, sitting on a table by the door. “Always on the bestsellers’ list."

"Mostly, my pressure comes from Marcie. She’s my editor who is also my agent.” I crinkled my nose.

The song ended, and we both applauded each other's performance. "That was fun," Guy said, his eyes twinkling mischievously. "But I think I need a glass of water."

When I walked into the kitchen and glanced at my phone, I noticed I had three voice messages and two texts. Two were from Marcie with last-minute instructions about the book signing, and the rest were from Meagan. The last text read:

Hey, where are you? I'm on my way over. Alex wants to meet you. We won't stay long. <3
