“Agreed,” Piper said. “Man, those Lyntacky boys are hot,” she added. “Not as hot as our men, but still, they’re up there.”

“They certainly are,” Luna said.

The lead went back and forth in the first half, with Lyntacky ahead by four when they changed ends.

Ford shot Autumn a look as he moved places.

“Guy’s smitten,” Luna said.

Autumn’s chest felt warm at the thought of Ford being smitten with her, but right now she had bigger things to think about. Like was she going to speak to Sheriff Dans?

“Foul!” Miss Sarah was refereeing this game, and Albert would officiate the girls.

“Aww come on, Miss Sarah. I didn’t touch the net,” Fin said.

“It moved!” Miss Sarah glared at him.

“I saw it move, ma’am,” Daniel Duke said.

His team agreed, and Fin glared through the net.

“Play!” Miss Sarah said. “I heard that, Finlay Hudson. You watch your mouth, or I’m canceling those scones for your birthday party next week.”

“Have a heart,” he muttered.

A ball came Autumn’s way, and Sawyer Duke leaped in the air and landed inches from her.

“Sorry.” He gave her a nod, then went back on court.

“Sawyer Duke makes my heart race,” someone over her shoulder said.

“All those Duke boys do that. Shame they’re so set on staying single.”

“True, but they’re having fun doing it if you know what I mean.”

Piper rolled her eyes at the girls talking. Clearly the Dukes were enjoying their single lives.

“Win to Lyntacky!” Miss Sarah said through her megaphone.

The crowd, which had steadily grown during the game, roared their approval. The Ryker Falls boys did not look happy.

“Nice work.” Piper hugged her man, who looked pissed off.

“It was only by two points. You did awesome,” Luna said to Nash. “And remember, it’s for a good cause.”

“We didn’t win. How is that awesome?” he grunted.

Sweat poured off the men, and Ford was guzzling from a bottle of water when he came closer.

“You girls need to win now. We can’t have it two and zip,” Joe said, looking as annoyed as the others.

“No pressure or anything,” Maggie said.

“I’ll be back. I just want to check on Ritchie,” Autumn said to the girls.

The bouncy castle was full when she arrived, and she found her boy laughing with the other kids.

“He’s all good. You go on now and play,” Aunt Jess said. “We’re having fun.”
