Aknock comes from my door, and I quickly tie my robe before moving to my dresser.

“Come in,” I call over my shoulder. I know it’s not Ian, since he’s at work, and Enzo is still refusing to stay here, so there’s only one person it can be. I slide a gold hoop into my ear as the door opens.

“Hey, love.” I glance at Ezra, finding him leaning into the room with his hands on top of the doorframe. I hate when he does that, he looks too fucking hot.

I quickly look forward again and ignore his cocky laugh behind me. “What do you want?”

“Thought you’d be dressed already. Don’t you start work in a few minutes?”

“Not today,” I say, turning to face him as I put the other hoop in. “I go in an hour later today.” He nods as he looks around my room.

“I like it in here,” he says as he stares at my bed. It’s big, comfy, and overflowing with pillows.

“Me too,” I say. “Which is why I don’t want you in here. You’ll fuck up the vibes.” He throws his head back and laughs, and I can’t help but smile with him. His laugh is contagious. Everything about him is contagious. When he looks back at me, his ocean-colored eyes are twinkling.

“We both know that’s not true,” he says. “We know the real reason why you don’t want me in here.”

“Yeah? And what reason is that?” I ask as I fold my arms over my chest.

“Because you’d jump my bones if I came in here.”

“Whatever,” I laugh. He grins wolfishly as he saunters into the room, kicking the door closed behind him.

“Or maybe I’d jump you.” My smile fades as I shift on my feet, uncomfortable under his full attention.

“Whatever,” I say again. He prowls toward me, that stupid grin on his face. “I wouldn’t let you.”

“No?” He tilts his head to the side, a golden curl falling across his forehead. “Can I ask you something?” I scrunch my brows, then nod slowly. “Why haven’t you looked my direction, but you’ve fucked half The Berserkers? Is it because I’m in The Brotherhood, or do you just not like me?”

His question shocks me into silence. My mouth opens and closes a few times, but nothing comes out. I shake my head and take a step away, pressing my back against the dresser.

“I haven’t fucked any of The Berserkers,” I say slowly. “I haven’t—”

“Don’t lie to me,” he scoffs, his smile sarcastic. “Archer?”

“One time,” I say, holding my finger up. “One fucking time, Kiwi. We were both drunk three years ago. It was my birthday, and I was lonely and sad, and he was there. It didn’t mean a fucking thing.”

“Why does he always touch you? Flirt with you? And you flirt back.” He folds his arms over his chest, his eyes narrowing into slits.

“It’s a stupid game we play,” I say, throwing my arms out. “I don’t know. What do you want me to say? That I’m sorry for fucking some guy before I ever knew you even existed?”

“I want you to tell me the truth,” he says in that low, lethal voice.

“That is the truth!” I shout, my throat tightening. “What—what are you asking me?”

“I think I’ve been pretty clear about that, babe.”

“Don’t fucking call me that,” I snarl. “I haven’t slept with anyone else in the club. Only Archer.”

“Whatever.” He shakes his head, laughing mockingly. “I see the way the guys look at you, the way they grab your ass—”

“You think I want that?” I shout, my voice trembling. “You think I like being groped every night by men twice my size for a few bucks?” I close my eyes, willing the tears to stay inside. “You don’t understand.”

“Why do you let them?” he asks, and my eyes snap open. “You don’t even try to stop them.”

“I’ve tried,” I say, my voice breaking. A tear finally slips down my cheek and his eyes latch onto it. “What they’ve done—I couldn’t stop him.” I wrap my arms around myself. He stiffens, and his face turns deadly.

“Are you saying one of them—”
