Bosco hands the gun back to Massimo. I can see the confusion on his face. I would be confused too. An unknown woman is standing at the boss’s desk. She shot a soldier and none of us retaliated or made a move to stop her.

“Fuck.” Bosco sits on the couch. His hands pulling at his hair. I’ve never seen him this strung out.

“It’s over now. He’s dead. The girls are in counseling and getting the help they need. Besides…” She clicks another file on the computer. This time a slide show starts. “You have bigger fish to fry.”

She leans back again and lets the slide play. By the third image I see what she found. Santo was meeting in secret with the Cartel. “Motherfucker.” I storm over to Massimo and grab his gun. He still looks lost. I shoot Santo in the other knee. “You disloyal, backstabbing bastard.”

Bosco moves to grab the gun from my hand. I know he wants to kill him. I can see it in his eyes.

“Don’t kill him. Yet.” She commands without looking at us. She is back to looking at the screen. We both pause and look at her. Waiting for her to continue. I still haven’t figured out why neither of us are aiming Massimo’s gun at her. She broke in here. She’s shot two of our men. “I didn’t get any audio. I have no clue what that asshole told them. Only that he was taking large deposits in an offshore account and had weekly meetings with them only hours after meeting with you all in this room.”

I turn to Massimo. “Take him to the basement. I want him stripped and strapped to the chair.”

“You got it.” He replies as he follows my orders.

CHAPTER FOUR

Elena

“WELL IT’S BEENfun catching up.” I grab the bag of money, zip it shut and move to the window. I got what I came for. Bosco is going to get the hit-man called off and the rapist is dead. It’s more blood on my hands but after I found out about the girls he hurt, I knew he had to die by my hand. He had to be added to my list. And I got to shoot Santo, damn did that feel good. Wish I could stay for his torture. It’s a small price to pay, I need to get back to mom.

I know Bosco and Luca will continue what I started. They won’t want the Cartel gaining any more traction on their territory and I just served their rat up on a silver platter.

I open the window without a sound. The men are talking, plotting. Forgetting all about me. Good. I should be able to make a quick escape. Getting in was easy. Loop all the cameras to show no movement across the compound and through the house. Turn off the alarm for thirty seconds while I picked the back door lock. Guards were easy to distract. One false alarm trigger on the south wall combined with three unexpected cabs all called to pick up a different person that doesn’t exist at the gate.

Yeah my distractions worked perfectly.

During my recon and planning I had decided that trying to get the men in the room to let me out the door was an unlikely scenario once I was in. The window was a decent option. We were on the second floor so I needed to climb down or risk injury. Thankfully the building was made with large gray stones. Essentially climbing down was no more difficult than rock climbing. Until two months ago that was a skill I didn’t have. That’s why planning was essential to my success. Plotting my escape allowed me to practice the skill I needed to scale down the wall.

“Where do you think you are going?” A shiver runs down my back. Damn I like his deep voice. Nope. Not happening. I have never had a crush. It isn’t happening now. I’ve been hearing his voice for years, have it memorized. Just because I like the sound of it doesn’t mean I like the man that comes with it.

Though, I’m not blind. Luca is gorgeous. Tall, muscular, sharp jaw, with piercing green eyes. His hair is a lighter shade of brown then mine. Trimmed short on the sides and longer on top. It falls down his forehead almost to his eyes. Yeah if I was a normal woman I would be screwed.

My chest tightens. If only I could be normal. I’m not sure if when this is over I will be able to try. I’m too far gone. Spent too much time running. I don’t make friends easy. I can’t keep them worth a crap. Luna’s the only one that hasn’t dropped me like a hot potato.

“Leaving.” I reply blandly.

“Not yet you aren’t. I have some questions for you.” I huff and turn to face him. I’m not surprised he has Massimo’s gun pointed at me. I guess I deserve it.

I pull my leg back in but don’t move away from the window. “You can ask. Doesn’t mean I will tell you.”

“Who are you? What is your name?”

I smile at him. “If you were paying attention you should having figured it out by now.”

I can see my vague answers are getting to him. The anger in him is boiling up. “Enough of the games.”

“Why, games are fun.” He takes a step closer to me. I wonder if I could disarm him? He’s got muscle. I’ve got speed and know all his moves. Could be an interesting fight.

“How do you know so much about us?” Asks Bosco. Crap forgot there were other people still here.

“I watched you.” It’s the truth. In part.

“You watched us?” It sounds like he doesn’t believe me. Not like it was hard. “Why?”

“I had my reasons.” It’s a simple enough answer without lying.

“And they have something to do with Violet?”
