It would destroy her.

“Maybe I’m afraid too,” he whispered, smiling tenderly at her. “I mean, it’s not every day a man meets the girl of his dreams, becomes a stepfather, and realizes just how unworthy he is of both of them…”

“Eric…”

“The way you look at me,” he began and paused, laying a hand over hers where it rested on his cheek. “The simple way you touch me – it’s a lot to process, because it’s hitting something vital in me that I didn’t realize was there… and I like it.”

“I do too.”

“I really want this to work between us,” he murmured. “I don’t want to be just a friend. I want it all and I know I’m gonna screw things up eventually, but…”

“Can dinner wait?” she interrupted tearfully, looking at him and searching his beautiful eyes. “I really want to focus on the basics right now.”

His smile was everything as he dropped his hands, drawing her into his arms and hugging her close. She pressed her cheek against his collarbone, pushing her nose and lips nearly against his neck, just needing to breathe him in, before dropping a light kiss at the base of his throat… and hearing him chuckle softly.

“That tickles, hon…”

Just the sound of his voice, that sexy, soft rasp that sparked something within her, was incredibly tempting… causing her to nuzzle his throat once more before kissing his skin again – and was rewarded with another soft, throaty laugh.

“It still tickles…” he retorted softly, but there was no bite to his voice.

“What if I like it and that happens to be my favorite spot?” she whispered bravely, treasuring the feel of him so close.

“Well, I wouldn’t want to rob you of your favorite spot,” he replied in a teasing manner, before continuing. “But what if I wanted a favorite spot?”

“I’m selfish,” she chuckled, and kissed his throat again.

“I’m selfish too,” he laughed tenderly, but arched his throat knowingly as she felt his hands move slightly on her back, cradling her closer. “What if there was more than one spot? Because I’ve heard that when two people finally find each other, then sometimes there’s several spots that should be kissed or might tickle?”

That husky invitation, combined with his words, made her lean back and look at him. His beautiful eyes, combined with that soft smile, the way he looked at her… all of it was wrapping a spell around her heart, drawing her in. He leaned down towards her, ever so slowly, and she closed her eyes, feeling his breath against her lips, waiting, almost as if he was asking permission like he’d done at their wedding.

“I love the basics,” she breathed softly and heard his tender laugh, causing her to smile. “But maybe it’s time to expand our education… and go with what feels right deep down inside?”

His lips caressed hers, causing her heart to skip a beat, as he broke the kiss but didn’t move away. Instead, he waited, almost hesitant and unmoving, causing her to open her eyes slightly.

“I want it all, Madison,” he breathed emotionally, not holding back, and she was melting in his arms. “I want to hold you, love you, and not for just a year. I want you as my wife – in all ways – and…”

“Yes,” she replied, cutting him off as she wrapped her arms around his shoulders, closing the space between them, kissing him.

“Yes?” he mumbled against her lips – and lifted her up against him, carrying her out of the kitchen. “You sure?”

“I’m sure,” she said, kissing him again, and felt his breath as he laughed against her lips, kissing her back. “Need this,” she whispered between kisses, and both froze as he accidently bumped into one of Max’s toys on the floor, making a loud rattling sound.

“Uh oh,” she whispered as they both paused, not moving, and smiled at each other. “Where were we?”

“I was taking my beloved bride to bed finally,” he breathed, opening the bedroom door – and shutting it behind them.

Sometime later,Madison watched as Eric got up out of bed. She couldn’t help but stare at him as he pulled on a pair of shorts, before leaning over to kiss her.

“Are you hungry?”

“Completely famished,” she smiled. “Let me just…”

“I’ve got it, hon,” he smiled. “I like seeing you there, in bed. Please don’t move… or at least not yet anyways.”

She couldn’t help the soft laugh that escaped her as he wagged his eyebrows suggestively at her, before kissing her again.
