I put more of my weight on my arms as I lean over the counter to look at her on the ground. "You okay, Tay Tay? Didn't notice you there." I make my voice saccharine sweet and have to stifle a laugh at the look on Dare's face.

"Don't call me that," she growls, finishing cleaning up the mess.

Dare and I trade looks. "Oh, didn't mean to offend you." I make a show of checking the time on my watch and looking around the club. "Go ahead and take off early."

Her eyes harden as she glares at me. "That's not necessary," she says through gritted teeth.

Chuckling, I let some of my ire bleed into the sound. "It wasn't a suggestion."

Her gaze darts back towards Luca's office and a fire burns in my gut, twisting as I resist the urge to throttle her for even thinking about him.

"He's in meetings the rest of the night," I cut her off before she has a chance to even argue. She studies me for a moment, a critical look in her eyes before she sags in defeat. She turns away from us without another word.

I keep my eye on her as she gathers her stuff and heads to leave, dragging her feet the entire time. She swivels her head back and forth, looking over the crowd and repeatedly looking back at Luca's office.

A rumble of rage builds in my chest as I watch her. Dare huffs a laugh at my side, topping off my drink.

"Why hasn't he just fired her?"

Such a good question. I roll my eyes and give my attention back to her. "Because he's an ass."

She snorts and shakes her head. Her attention still locked over my shoulder and I know she's watching Taylor to make sure she leaves. "I mean, no arguments from me," she agrees, but I hear the unspoken question.

"He likes seeing me get jealous and possessive."

She throws her head back and cackles.

"Can you blame him?" She shakes her head, still chuckling. "The man has probably had blue balls for the last decade."

I roll my eyes. "It hasn't been that long." I adjust my body and watch out of the corner of my eye as Taylor stops and says something to Adam before she heads towards the exit that leads to the side alley. Perfect.

I turn around more fully now that her back is to me and catch the strange look on Adam's face as he watches her. He turns around, searching for something. As soon as our eyes meet, he nods his head towards where Taylor just left and arches a brow.

Huh. Whatever she said to him has got him concerned enough to look for me. Interesting.

"Do I even want to know?" Dare drawls slowly as she watches the interaction.

I look back and wink at her. "Plausible deniability, babe. Plausible deniability." She really is too smart for her own good. I’d probably even bring her in if I didn’t know her so well. The girl wants to dance. She’s damn good at it too. One of the best we’ve ever had. She may live in the shadows, but she isn’t drenched in them like the rest of us.

She chuckles and I wave goodbye as I start following Taylor.

I quietly sneak out into the alley, not wanting to alert her that anyone followed her out here. I don't see her immediately. I gently shut the door behind me and creep down toward the back of the club. If she were heading to the front, she would have just used the front exit.

I hear her before I see her.

Not enough to make out what she’s saying, but I would recognize her whiny tones from blocks away.

Making my way towards the sound of her voice, I stick close to the sides of the walls, blending into the shadows to make it harder for her to see me. Not that she seems to be observant of her surroundings anyways.

A flash of blonde hair reflecting the streetlights as she turns the corner and stops to lean against the wall. I creep forward, keeping my feet light, not an easy feat in these heels. I stop once I'm close enough to make out what she’s saying.

She has a phone pressed to her ear and is shaking her head. “What do you expect from me?” she snaps. Her fist bunches at her side as she listens to whatever the response from the other side of the line was.

“I’ve done everything you told me to do,” she exhales dramatically, looking about one second away from stomping her foot and throwing her phone. “He was in meetings the rest of the night and I was released early.”

She growls, “Of course I don’t know with who. He doesn’t let me anywhere near him.”

My mood darkens at her words. This doesn’t sound like a normal argument and I have the sneaking suspicion she’s referring to Luca. Who else could it be? There are only so many people who would have the balls to order someone to attempt to get close to him. Someone who has been doing it over and over again.
