I thought about her suggestion while I looked around the kitchen. Our whole life had been packed up, and there was nothing left to do. I had no reason to object. Plus, Vivian was right. We had never gone to a club together because we had different groups of friends with different interests.

“Alright, let’s do it,” I said, and she flashed me a smile.

“I’ll get dressed.” She said and started heading to her room, then she stopped and turned to me. “Please don’t wear any of those large shirts you have. Wear something nice. We are going clubbing, not to a studio. Fix your hair too,” she said and disappeared into her room.

I smiled and rolled my eyes, heading to my own room. “It’s not my fault I have an interesting style.”

I got dressed in a red figure fitting dress I bought at a fair with my friend, Chelsea. She got herself the same dress but in a green shade. Then I put my hair in a high bun and put on very light makeup. By the time I was done, Vivian was already pissed.

“You want all the hot men to leave the club before we get there?” she asked and I laughed.

“Please. Hot men are not going anywhere at this time.” As we left the house, I asked.

“What club are we going to?”

“I once went to this elite club with that short man I used to date. You know the one.” Vivian said and I laughed out loud.

“Oh, now he is that short man you used to date. Remember when he was the best thing to happen to you?”

She shook her head and took out her phone. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” A smile playing on her lips. She already booked a ride and the driver was there in no time. We got in and were on our way to the club.

Immediately we stepped into the club, I was hit with the odor of alcohol and sweaty bodies. It made me a little lightheaded at first, but then it got better. Vivian held my hand as we went further into the club.

Give it up to me by Sean Paulblasted out of the speakers, and Vivian started dancing almost immediately. She looked so happy, and it usually infected me, and so I started moving my hips to the beat of the song. After a few minutes, Vivian said in my ears, “I have to pee from all the alcohol about to hit me.”

“Want me to come with you?” I asked over the music.

“No, don’t worry. I’ll be back soon.”

I nodded at her, and she went away while I continued dancing.

I could feel someone looking at me, and when I looked up, my eyes met with a set of beautiful eyes that belonged to the most handsome face I’d ever seen. He was sitting by the bar, a glass of something in his hand.

I looked away from him, turned around, and continued dancing. When I turned to check if he was still sitting there, he was standing behind me, which shocked me. I jerked back in surprise.

“I’m sorry.” He said loudly, laughing at my reaction to seeing him behind me. He was inches above me in height, and his shoulders were so broad I felt like running my hands across them. His large biceps were almost bursting out from the shirt he wore, telling me that he worked out often. I caught a whiff of his perfume, it smelt divine. I knew I wouldn’t forget this man in a hurry.

I rolled my eyes, “Very funny.”

“Can I buy you a drink? To apologize.” He said in a loud voice. I looked around for Vivian, and she wasn’t in sight yet. It wouldn’t hurt to take a drink or two, and if she returned to look for me, I’d see her. This spot had a direct line of sight with the bar.

He put his hand in front of him, “After you.”

I walked in front of him towards the bar. We got there, and I sat down on one of the rotating stools there. He sat down opposite me. The bartender came over to us.

“I’d have another glass of whiskey. What would you like to drink?” he asked.

“A shot of vodka, please,” I said, and the bartender turned away.

“You looked amazing dancing over there.” He said, pointing towards the dance floor.

“Thank you. I haven’t done this in a while.”

“Danced?”

“Danced in a club,” I responded, and he nodded.

“I don’t dance. It’s not a talent I was blessed with,” he said, and I laughed.
