“So what are you doing here then?”

“I’m here with my friend. He is somewhere in here.”

Our drinks came, and I quickly poured the shot of Vodka down my throat. His eyes opened in surprise, staring at me.

“What?” I asked.

“Nothing. I just… I’ve never seen a lady that didn’t flinch at a shot of vodka.”

I laughed and signaled to the bartender to get me another one. I saw this young man take a sip from his glass from the corner of my eyes.

Chapter2

Leon

New York was great, but I was beginning to miss Chicago. I had been working here for almost four weeks and sleeping in a hotel bed was not really my thing. I always preferred the comfort of my bed. The work I supervised in New York was almost done, and I was to head back home soon.

After a really exhausting day, I was getting into bed when my phone started ringing.

“Where are you man?” Miguel shouted into the speaker of the phone.

“I’m in my hotel room, going to bed.”

“Going to bed? Who are you, and what have you done with the real Leon?” he asked.

“I’m tired, man. I overworked myself today.”

“Just a few minutes at the club, and you’ll return to your sweet bed. I have a beautiful woman I want you to meet.”

I sighed. “Miguel, I’m tired. Let’s do this tomorrow night.”

“She might not be available to see you tomorrow night. C’mon, man. This is not you. You never shy away from fun.”

He was right, I never shied away from clubbing and fun but I was also exhausted. On the other hand, I wouldn’t mind the soft body of a woman beside me in bed tonight. That was my motivation. I sat up from the bed.

“Pin me your location. I’m coming.” I said and ended the call. In a few minutes, Miguel sent me the name of the club. I called my driver to get ready and wait for me in front of the hotel. I got dressed in a simple shirt and trousers and was on my way to the club.

I called Miguel when I got into the club and he picked on the second ring. “I’m here man. Where are you?”

“Just go into the club and wait for me by the bar. I’m finishing up some business here,” he laughed, “You know how it is.”

I laughed and ended the call. Then I went into the club and went to the bar. I ordered a glass of whiskey and sat down, waiting for Miguel. My eyes were at the entrance of the club when I saw possibly the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen. She had on a red dress that hugged her body perfectly. She was with someone I assumed was her friend.

My eyes trailed her until she disappeared into the crowd of dancing people. I took a sip from my glass and kept looking for her. I finally found her moving her waist to Sean Paul’s voice. I wanted to wrap my hands around that curvy body of hers.

Her friend was dancing with her and then suddenly whispered something to her and walked away. While she remained on the dance floor, dancing. I couldn’t bring myself to peel my eyes away from her, and I was surprised when she raised her eyes to meet mine.

They were locked for a few seconds, and then she looked away and turned her back to me. My ego was a bit hurt as I expected her to walk towards me. It was usually what girls did when you locked eyes with them in the club. I didn’t let that affect me too much, though. If she wasn’t going to come to me, I would go to her. I finished up the contents of my glass and made my way to her on the dance floor.

She turned and gasped in shock when she saw me standing behind her. Her reaction elicited laughter from me.

“I’m sorry,” I apologized. I saw her roll her eyes while smiling lightly, not really sure what she said because of the loud music. I took a few seconds to study the soft details of her face. It was oval-shaped, and she had a pointed nose. Her lips were glossed, and they curved slightly downward when she smiled. I offered to buy her a drink to apologize for scaring her. Her eyes scanned the club in search of her friend before she accepted and went with me to the bar. While walking behind her, I took some seconds to notice the way her waist moved while she walked. She was so hot.

We engaged in small talk while flirting heavily, letting me know that she was on the same page as I was. “I don’t even know your name?” I said.

“Valentina. Most people call me Val.”

“I’m Leon. Most people call me Leon.” I responded, and we both laughed.
