"Wife? Hey, wife? Has anyone seen my wife? She left me in bed, all alone. I need some morning cuddles, dammit!"

I guess my wedding day reminiscing and murder plotting is over for now. As you can tell, Abel is fake whining from the bedroom, so I better go tend to my husband. Wouldn't want my first full day of wife duty to be a failure, now would I?

I sneak into the bedroom, and it's a perfect opportunity to pounce on Abel, since his back is facing me. I crawl over to the bed on my hands and knees, but he's one step ahead of me, like usual. When I look up, I'm met with Abel's grinning face. Damn him! One day I'll get him. Being raised by a cop, his sneaky techniques give him the upper hand.

"Nice try, babe. Very cute, but you're going to have to try harder. Speaking of hard. You left me in bed, hard as a rock. What should we do about that?"

I grab his shoulders, pull him down onto the floor with me, and gently kiss his lips. He groans, knowing that's all he's going to get right now.

"I love you, husband of mine, but we need to get a move on. Ireland is waiting for us. Just think of all the places we'll be christening as newlyweds. Yes, before you ask, I give you full permission to tell all the dirty deeds to Mara and Noah. After all, we have to make it cringeworthy for the slightly prudish twosome of the family. It's going to be a trip we'll never forget."

Abel is up and dressed before I can say anything more. One thing about my man is if dirty deeds are involved, he'll do just about anything I want. Vice versa because I'm just as needy. He definitely met his match when he got with me. Mara says it was plain kinky fuckery that brought us together. I definitely see the truth in that.

"Bro just messaged me and said we're meeting up at their place. Mara has pastries and coffee waiting. We have twenty minutes or else Mara is bringing the pain. Whatever the hell that means."

Oh, I know exactly what that means. She's a worrier, and if we aren't hours early to the airport, she'll freak out. I bet she even has a map drawn up which way she wants us to walk from point A to point B. God love her.

Abel grabs our luggage, and I get Hippie into the car. I'm going to miss my boy, but I know Elsie will take great care of him while we're away. He's going to get all the treats and extra love from his auntie, I'm sure of it.

I still can't believe we're headed to Ireland. Mara and I have been researching all the places we want to see and, of course, all the food we want to devour. I'm going to drown in all the salty and sugary goodness. That's a given. Being a devout foodie, I'm even bringing an extra bag for all the snacks I'm sure to buy. I have a plan, people.

"You're lucky, heffa! Two minutes to spare. Say your goodbyes to Miss Elsie and Hippie, so we can leave. Now! Shoo!"

See? She's a hooligan! A straight-up bossy hooligan.

"Yes, ma'am! We would've been later if I let Abel have his way with me. Count your lucky stars, and just know he'll have blue balls all the way to Ireland."

Mara cringes, and we all laugh at her expense. It's the little things in life that give me the most joy. Watching Mara squirm is at the very top of my list.

"Love you, Mara, my beautiful little flower. Let's go get into some foreign trouble, shall we? I expect you to do at least one thing out of your comfort zone. Deal?"

She looks at me with a mischievous sparkle in her eye. She has something planned, I can see it. This is going to be one hell of a trip. We all crowd into the mommy van and head to the airport.

I bid you farewell, Seaside. See you on the flip side.

Chapter12

Mara

Why is it that I love to travel, yet flying freaks me the frack out?

I tighten my hand in Noah’s as he leans over to whisper in my ear, “Deep breaths, babe. We are going to be fine. This is the final leg of our trip over the pond.”

“I know.” I take a calming breath and let it out. “I’m just…”

“Overthinking it.” He pulls my hand to his lips and kisses my knuckles.

I may have melted a little at the simple, yet completely sweet gesture. The man knows how to distract me like that.

“It’ll go by fast. Take a nap, have a meal, and bam, we’ll be in Ireland. I’ll be right here, the whole time.” He smiles over at me.

We’ve already been in the air once this morning; why am I freaking out more this time? Probably because I am a neurotic nut job…and I’ve seen the TV showLostonce upon a time. That plane trip hadn’t ended well for them.

Nope, not putting that bad juju in the air. We are going to be just freaking fine. I command it so.

We’d managed to leave Portland, the god awful place that it was, on time and without incidents.

Which meant the threats I’d given to everyone had worked. Yes, we had to be up before the ass crack of dawn to get to the airport by 6:00 am.
