They never regret choosing each other. Due to several prophetic dreams, seven weeks after Trinity moves to Alaska, she gets a surprise visit from Lachelle and Julius. Lachelle is about to pop, Julius is about to lose his mind, but when they arrive at Trinity’s new address, they find her completely wrapped up and in love with her husband – Augustine Lockwood.

Julius and Lachelle stay a couple more weeks and then return to Central, NY, leaving Trinity and Augustine to enjoy their “honeymoon phase” AKA deep winter.

Trinity’s first winter in Alaska was the best winter of her life. Sure, there were snowstorms every day, the dogs insisted on sharing the bed, and there was such little sunlight that she felt like a vampire… but Augustine made it better. In an effort to give up drinking, he developed a new addiction – making love to Trinity every day. And every night. And sometimes at noon.

By spring, Trinity was pregnant completely unexpectedly, and just a couple months after Lachelle gave birth to her baby.

Creed and Flurry became extremely protective of Trinity during her pregnancy, helping Trinity to lose her fear of the dogs and bond to them completely. By the time the baby came, Creed and Flurry were her babies and wearing rhinestone collars Trinity chose herself.

With the new baby, their happy marriage, and a bond that strengthened everyday, Augustine wondered if he needed to be in Alaska anymore… if he might be ready to head back to civilization. Just when he was getting ready to ask Trinity if she wanted to move back, someone knocked at the door.

“I’ll get it,” Trinity said, cradling her newborn baby boy Brendan Lockwood against her chest. She kissed the top of his head, hoping the loud knocking wouldn’t wake the baby.

Augustine took her hand and tried to stop his wife from getting up. Getting the baby to sleep took plenty of effort.

“It’s probably Jim. He’ll want beer if we let him in and we’ll be stuck in a conversation for hours. I’d rather take you upstairs,” Augustine whispered. Trinity nodded. Augustine had a point. Maybe they could sneak upstairs and pretend no one was home.

Unfortunately, Jim would leave them no choice but to respond. His voice boomed over the wind outside.

“AUGUSTINE! AUGUSTINE LOCKWOOD! MY WIFE RAN AWAY AND SHE’S TAKEN UP WITH ZEDEKIAH STRANGEWAY TWENTY MILES SOUTH. I NEED YER DAMN SHOTGUN AND SOME WHISKY. THAT DAMN MULATTO RAN AWAY! FUCKIN’ HELL!”

This time, it was Trinity’s turn to hesitate.

“That crazy motherfucker lost his wife. I knew it,” she hissed to Augustine. “You had better not help him…”

“I’ll fend him off,” Augustine assured her. “Wait right here…”
