Page 82 of Hunt me Darling

I sigh in mock exasperation, unable to resist their thoughtful gestures. "Fine, I'll take the vitamins and let you pamper me a little," I say, giving in with a smile. "But only because you're both stubborn stalkerish psychos."

Tristan grins, planting another kiss on my forehead. "That's our Little Darling, always putting up a fight," he says, his eyes twinkling with affection.

We get up and prepare for the day, Derek and I heading to the office together. As we drive, we make a stop at my favorite drive-through for coffee and a bagel. Derek knows exactly how I like my coffee and made sure it was perfect before handing it to me with a smile.

Entering the office, I find Max already there leaning against the table with the pile of paper evidence and digital copies that he prepared for me. He greets me with a grin, reminding me that he is already aware of our secrets. Derek stands nearby, watchful as ever. Max hands me the evidence, and I give him a grateful smile, knowing that he has gone above and beyond.

"I hope this helps," Max says, a hint of mischief in his eyes. "And remember, if you need anything else, you know where to find me."

"Thanks, Max," I reply, trying to suppress a smile.

Derek clears his throat, giving Max a stern look. "We appreciate your help, but let's keep this professional, shall we?" he says, subtly reminding Max of the need for discretion.

Max chuckles, raising his hands in mock surrender. "Of course, Agent Matthews. All business," he says with a wink before turning to leave.

As I start to look at the information that Max left, I find a lot of it is what I had already seen, but with the corresponding paper trail and evidence of it being manipulated by Mark.

Derek steps up beside me to look down at the information. “You will find that everything is there, plus some extra carefully created items that all lead to Decker and Travis.”

It isn’t long after that when news reaches us that they found James’ body and assigned it to a different team. The most surprising piece of information is that there is evidence left at this scene while before there had been none.

With our Agent in Charge being brutally murdered by the same murderers we were chasing, the whole case is handed over to the new team that has been called in for James. Including all of the new evidence and paper trails that lead to Decker and Travis below the initial layers of corruption.

Derek assures me that the physical evidence found with James will also lead to Decker and Travis.

For handsome damaged psychos, they sure are organized.

Barely any time passes before we are watching from the sidelines as Decker and Travis are arrested. I have a smile on my face as their eyes meet mine while they are led past.

The look of pure hatred when they look at me might have scared most people. I just smile wider, giving them a little finger wave.

As Decker and Travis are taken away, Derek stands by my side and I know Tristan is watching from the shadows, their presence providing comfort and strength. It is a bittersweet victory, knowing that justice was served to who truly deserved it but also acknowledging the dark path that led us here.

I request to be permanently reassigned to this field office, and Derek and I move to a new team together, which according to Max is completely corruption free.

It doesn’t come as a surprise either when Derek and Tristan talk me into moving in with them either. They have a large older Victorian style home near the abandoned warehouse they love to use. But it also backs onto a very familiar looking forest.

Emily and Michael are reassigned to a different team as well, but Emily and I soon become close friends outside of the office. Michael finally stops wanting everything to stay a secret, and they take their relationship public. Though, apparently, I am the only one who has been too caught up in other things and didn’t already know.

Amidst the chaos of everything, I can’t help but notice the changes in my body. The pregnancy symptoms had become more apparent, and soon, it is time to find out if Tristan’s sneakiness has paid off. Because I know it was him, it screams his brand of craziness.

Nervousness buzzing inside of me, I take the pregnancy test Tristan secretly got for me and left in the bathroom. Derek and Tristan stand by my side the whole wait, while my heart pounds in my chest.

Moments later, the test shows the two pink lines, confirming their crazy plans worked. I am indeed pregnant.

"We did it! Told you there would be a baby," Tristan exclaims, a grin taking over most of his face.

Derek pulls me into a tight embrace. “We’re going to be parents,” he says, “you’re going to have our Prince. I’m never letting you leave my side again.”

Clearly someone still isn’t over everything.

A mixture of emotions wash over me, and I can't help but feel overwhelmed. "I’m going to be a momma," I say, my voice trembling.

Tristan kisses my forehead, his touch gentle and reassuring. "And we're going to be with you every tiny step of the way," he says softly. “Every second of every day we will be there.”

Yeah, that sounds exactly like the crazy psychos I’ve come to love.
