“Yeah?” Bexley squeezed harder.

“When you claim me like that.”

“You want to be claimed by me?” Bexley asked, lifting at Alex’s shirt.

“Yes,” Alex replied, closing her eyes in preparation for Bexley to suck her nipple into her mouth.

Bexley lowered Alex’s shirt instead and replied, “I’ll claim you repeatedly when I get home, but I need to get my stuff and head out for lunch.”

“You’re a tease, Bexley Woods,” Alex stated when she opened her eyes, causing Bexley to laugh.

“I’d take you with me, but… well, you know.”

“What are you meeting this other doctor about?”

“What he’s doing here; his work.”

“Always learning, aren’t you, doctor?” Alex kissed Bexley’s forehead. “You’ll be back by dinner?”

“Of course,” Bexley replied, pressing her lips to Alex’s.

“The car will take you anywhere you want to go, and I’ll ask that a guard remain close by. I don’t believe anyone knows about us yet, but I’d rather be safe than have you accosted in public by the nosy press.”

“Okay,” Bexley said, kissing her again. “I’ll see you later.”

“I love you, even though you’re a tease,” Alex spoke against Bexley’s lips.

“I love you, too. And I’m not a tease – I plan to deliver.” Bexley kissed her. “And deliver.” She kissed her again. “And deliver.”

Alex grunted.

“So, you never have a drink with your father,” he said.

“You rarely drink,” Alex replied as they sat down in her parents’ private sitting room.

“One a day is my limit, so if I’m not having wine with dinner because I’m enjoying a brandy with my daughter, I’m all right with that.” He winked at her.

“Is Mother upset she’s not here?” Alex asked.

“Your mother is talking to Maggie about colors to paint the nursery, so I think she’s doing just fine.”

“That’s right – they thought they were done, so they made Louis’s old nursery a craft room.”

“Your mother is thinking purple for a girl. It’s a royal color with femininity if the right shade,” he said, taking a sip of his drink. “So, Alex, what are we doing here?”

Alex took a deep breath and said, “Well, I think it’s time we had that talk.”

“About the birds and the bees? I thought you knew how all that worked. Besides, being a lesbian means–”

“No. I don’t need to talk about sex. I’m good there.”

“Well, confident, are we?” he joked.

“Oh, my God!”

“What? It’s an important part of every relationship.”
