When Alex emerged from the office, she earned instant gasps. Then, Bexley watched two students reach for their phones.

“Absolutely not,” she said quickly.

They stopped mid-reach but were now on Bexley’s list.

“Hello, everyone,” Alex offered with a wave to the group. “I’m only here to observe, and I won’t get in the way at all. Please respect whatever Dr.Woods tells you. And yes, I’d appreciate no pictures or videos. In fact, if you can keep it to yourselves that I’m here, period, I would greatly appreciate it. The security team you saw when you came up is here because of me. If people find out I’m coming here every day, that team will become an army, and it’s likely I won’t be able to come back at all. Dr.Woods is amazing at what she does, and I’d love to find a way to include what she’s doing here into the programs back home. Anyway, I will just sit in the back,” Alex concluded.

“Thank you, Ma’am,” Bexley said, recovering from the blush Alex’s words caused.

Alex nodded and walked to the back of the room with all eyes on her. Bexley knew part of it was because Alex was a Princess, but she also wondered if some of it was because Alex was a gorgeous woman. Her brown hair had some light-brown highlights in it, and that all worked so well with her green eyes, which shifted their color at times based on the lighting. Bexley had noticed that the other night when they’d spent time together in the nursery.

When they’d gotten the twins down for the night, they’d stayed. The babies hadn’t woken as they’d talked for a couple of hours. Bexley had lain back down with her legs in Alex’s lap. Alex’s hands had rested on top of them over the blanket, and they stayed that way until well after two in the morning. Finally, Bexley had fallen asleep. When one of the babies stirring had woken her up, Alex was still there, with her hands on top of Bexley’s legs, sitting up with her head back against the pillow, asleep. Bexley had smiled then. She’d wondered in that moment if anyone had ever seen the Princess quite like this. She doubted Alex’s mother cared enough about these moments, and while Bexley knew Alex and her brother were close, she also doubted thathe’dseen her like this.

“That’s lunch,” Bexley announced. “When we come back, we’ll review patient history, and I’ll give you all your schedules for the next two weeks.”

The students stood and packed up some of their things, leaving the rest in their spots. Alex stood as well, and Bexley watched as the students bowed and greeted Alex as they left. Alex was polite and stood there until they were all gone, heading down in the elevator, with two of them choosing the stairs.

“You are insanely good at this,” Alex told her, walking quickly toward the front of the room.

“What?” Bexley asked, laughing a little as she closed her laptop that had been connected to the projector.

“What do you mean, what? You had them all taking notes like crazy.”

“It’s day one. They’re writing everything down because they don’t know what they’ll need to remember yet.”

“Bex, give yourself some credit, please. I’m a Princess – I’m sitting in the room, and none of them are looking at me. In fact, not a single one even turned around to see what I was doing the whole time you were talking. Do you know how rare that is?”

“What if they tell people you’re here?”

“Oh, they will. One of them will say something to someone. It’ll happen.” Alex appeared not to think much of it.

“Shit. Really? I should’ve had them sign something. I–”

“It’s all right. If press shows up, I’ll have someone make a statement about why I’m here and tell them I’m heading home soon.”

“You are?” Bexley asked, surprised at that new information.

“I’ll have to, eventually,” Alex replied.

“Right,” Bexley said softly, realizing that thought made her a little sad. “So, lunch? I can go to a different place today.”

“No way. Today’s your first day of teaching. You’re not running out to grab lunch because I can’t. I already messaged one of the guards downstairs. He should be back soon with something for us.”

“Really?” Bexley asked.

“I asked him to get pizza. I hope that’s okay.”

“Oh,” Bexley said, disappointed.

“I know; Kleinland’s pizza is awful.” Alex laughed lightly. “However, there’s one Domino’s in Kleinland, and it is only two blocks away. He went there.”

“Oh, thank God,” Bexley replied, laughing as well. “I want to like it; I really do. But every kind of pizza here has some kind of fish on it and ends up with soggy crust.”

Alex laughed a bit more before offering, “Hey, tonight, I was thinking that you and I could grab dinner.”

“Sure,” Bexley agreed.

“Yeah?” Alex asked, smiling at her.
