Rocking my hips against his face, I rode his tongue, letting it caress from my clit to the bottom of my pussy’s entrance. It was pure ecstasy, and coupled with his guttural groans, I neared my orgasm quickly. My back arched as I rose to the peak of arousal, more moisture flowing from between my legs. He lapped it up and as all my muscles tensed, he gripped my ass, holding me to him...

And I exploded, my eyes closing and my fists clenching his dark hair. “Wade,” I moaned out, loving the way his tongue was cleaning up as I began to come down from the high. He raised from between my legs as I opened my eyes, our gaze locking.

“You’re phenomenal, Chey,” he murmured, climbing over me. He kissed my lips softly, giving me a taste of myself, before opening the nightstand and grabbing a condom. Wade ripped it open, stretching it over himself. My pussy tightened with anticipation of what was to come, eager for him to fill me.

“Fuck me,” I panted as he ran the tip along my wet entrance. “Please.”

“You don’t have to ask, baby,” he groaned, sticking the tip in before slowly pressing all the way in. His face contorted with lust and pleasure as his hips rocked against mine, his shaft deep in my body.

Moans escaped my throat as he grabbed my ass, lifting my lower half off the bed as he picked up his pace. He didn’t slow down, his gray eyes darkening as they locked to mine. I rode his pleasure, finding his arousal exciting. He continued, our bodies intertwined like that for a few moments longer, before allowing my hips to drop. He stayed inside me, leaning over me. His mouth crushed to mine in a hot, passionate kiss.

He groaned out as his body tensed, releasing into the condom inside me. I gripped his back, my nails digging into his skin as his lips slowed, a groan slipping out. We stayed there for a few minutes, and I breathed in the masculine scent of him, the soft flannel comforter warm against my back.

“You’re perfect, Chey,” Wade mumbled as he finally rolled off me, landing on the left side of me on the bed.

I smiled, rolling onto my side to look at him. “You only say that when it comes to sex.” My tone was teasing, but inwardly, it was the truth of how I felt.

“Nah, I mean it in everything you do and who you are.” Wade’s voice was quiet as his eyes searched my face. “It’ll be really fucking hard when you leave.”

I rolled back to my back as my heart sank, reality coming back to mind. I was quiet for a few minutes, trying to process what leaving Wadewouldbe like. “It’s going to be hard, but I guess we can still be friends—maybe still talk some.”

As friends.

The words had felt sour leaving my mouth, but that was the best we could do... And besides, Wade didn’t trust women. It seemed like a bad mixture for the two of us to pursue anything more than that, especially from a distance.

But the fact I was thinking of it was startling...

Almost as startling as Wade’s dead silence beside me.

“Wade?” I looked over at him, noticing that his eyes were shut. I propped up on an elbow, peering closer at him.

He’s freaking asleep.

Rain pattered on the windows, and the deep breaths coming from Wade made our open ended conversation that much more unsettling. I sat up, feeling jittery, as I grabbed my clothes, dressing quickly and quietly. Normally, whatever the future held, like leaving Wade, I could push off...

But not in the moment.

I padded across the floor of the darkening room, slipping out of Wade’s room and heading to my own. “Takoda,” I called out softly as I opened my bedroom door, expecting him to be there.

But he wasn’t.

I furrowed my brow at the absence, racking my brain as to where he could’ve run off to—maybe Hazel had him? Quickly, I checked the bathroom before trotting down the stairs, calling for him ever so often.

But he was nowhere to be found.

And as I walked into the kitchen, worry was beginning to creep in. However, it was relieving to see Hazel and Blake in the kitchen.

“Hey, Chey,” Hazel greeted me with a smile before popping a potato chip into her mouth. “What’s up?”

“I can’t find Takoda.” My voice came out in a rush and strained as I peered around the two siblings, hoping that the little guy would just pop out of nowhere.

“I haven’t seen him,” Blake scrunched up his face. “The last I saw him was out in the barn.”

“You mean like earlier today when Wade was watching him?” I clarified, shaking my head. “Because I brought him in.”

“No, I saw him like thirty minutes ago? Right before the storm rolled in. I figured you were out there with him.” Blake’s voice came out careful, and confused.

“I haven’t been outside since around lunch.” My heart picked up its pace, pounding in my chest. The panic was growing, my hands beginning to tremble at my sides. I hadneverlost Takoda—he’d always beenrightthere with me.
