“Is there a Caps game today?” Sam asked.

“Tonight at seven.”

“Maybe we need to go.”

“Would he be able to afford a ticket?”

“He had a job. He might have some money.”

“I suppose it’s worth a try, but wouldn’t that be like looking for a needle in a haystack?”

“Yeah, but the Caps are the one thing Chuck said he loved besides the Blanchets.”

Freddie’s phone rang. “It’s Jesse Best calling me back.” He pressed the green button to accept the call. “Hey, Jesse.”

While Freddie gave Jesse the lowdown on the case and their need to find Isaiah Wiley, Sam checked in with Nick to see how the kids were doing.

All quiet here. Watching a movie. How goes it there?

The usual frustration. Can’t find a kid who may or may not have killed the family that was forced to nullify his adoption after he was violent with their other kids.

Ugh.

Yeah.

You really think he did it?

We don’t know what to think. Going to hit the Caps game tonight because our subject is a big fan. Will be home after that.

You should give Vernon a heads-up that you’re planning to attend a big public event.

Oh yeah…

Samantha.

I would’ve thought of it. Eventually.

No, you wouldn’t have.

YES!

No!

Another fight to continue when I see you.

Can’t wait. Be careful with my best girl. I love her madly.

Will do. Love you madlier.

That’s not a word.

Nerd.

Sticks and stones…

“I gave Jesse everything we know about Isaiah and told him we’re going to look for him at the Caps game later. He said they’re on it.” Freddie’s phone rang with a call from Malone. “Hey, Captain, what’s up?”

Sam watched as Freddie’s brows came together in what might’ve been confusion. “Really? And they’re sure?” After a pause, “Well, I honestly didn’t expect that. Yes, sir. Will do.”
