His jaw hardens, and his fingers tense around my face. “Tell me I can. Tell me I can fucking kiss you.”

“Fucking kiss me, Ma—”

He eats my words when his mouth crashes down on mine. A groan vibrates from his lips and reaches every part of me. His lips, his body, all crash into me with a force more powerful than either of us can deny right now.

He pushes his body into me harder as if he’s desperate to erase any space that’s left between us. I push back with just as much urgency as I moan into his mouth from a kiss that sends electricity soaring to my toes. Marc kisses me like he would’ve actually died if he didn’t get to do this.

I never once wanted this with another man before.

But now that I’ve had it with Marc, I can’t imagine a kiss with anyone else.

He pulls away from the kiss. Just barely. His lips feathering over mine as he rests his forehead on mine. “Fuck, Avery,” he pants breathlessly against my lips.

His hand tangles in my hair as he twists my head to the side, exposing my neck and allowing him access to any inch of exposed skin this oversized t-shirt allows him to have. He peppers kisses down the pounding pulse in my neck until he reaches the sensitive spot on my collarbone.

“What are you doing to me?” His breath is hot against my skin.

My hands grip his waist, pulling the fabric into me despite being as close to him as I can get. “I could ask you the same thing.”

His lips trail back up my neck until they land on mine again with enough pressure that forces me to open up for him. The second I do, his tongue sweeps inside, forcing another moan out of me as he ravenously claims my mouth as his.

This isn’t a normal kiss. It can’t be.

This is wild.

This is unhinged.

This is everything I never knew a kiss could be.

Marc takes my bottom lip between his teeth. Just enough that causes my breath to catch in my throat before he releases it. The look in his eyes is downright dark as he incinerates me with his stare. His fingers play with the hem of my shirt, gently skimming the skin above the waistline of my sweatpants, sending pleasure right to my core.

“I think you’ve ruined me, Avery Woods.” His words skate across my lips. “You’ve completely ruined me.”

Same, Marc. Same.

My desk phone rings not even five minutes after I step foot into my office. I already have a feeling it’s going to bethatkind of day.

“Marc Ford,” I answer.

“Marc. It’s Bill.” His voice is firm and serious which causes my hand to tense up around the phone.

“Good morning, sir. What can I do for you?”

“We have a meeting this morning.”

God dammit. I quickly grab my briefcase and toggle through the open applications on my computer for my calendar to see where this meeting is. Clearly I’m about to be late for it.

“Are you there?”

“Yes. Yes. I’m here. Sorry, I'm just gathering stuff I need for it.” I click faster to try and urge the computer to hurry the fuck up. “I hit some traffic coming in today and had to stop by the Manhattan office to pick up the things we needed for it.”

“You don’t need anything for it.” Bill laughs. “The meeting is here on the phone. Are you okay?”

I slump into my desk chair and exhale a sigh of relief.Close call. But still, I’m on edge over the fact that I even forgot about this phone meeting in the first place.

“Oh, you’re right.” I run my hand down my face. “Sorry, sir. It’s been a long morning.”

Long morning? More like a long week. The last time I saw Avery was Thursday evening when she left the penthouse. I worked from home while she slept the day away on my couch. Clearly her body needed to recover from being sick all night.
