"How do you know?"

"I saw a sidearm on the driver."

He picked up his phone and tapped Tate's number.

"Hey, there."

"Tate. I'm at the hotel and two men in an older pickup just parked next to Everleigh's SUV and got out."

A loud pop sounded.

"And, I believe they just popped her tire. Run these plates." He craned his neck to see the plates clearly. "TCB389".

"Hang tight. Are you and Everleigh safe?"

"For now, we haven't been spotted."

Another loud pop sounded and she gasped. He held her hand tighter and turned to face her. He shook his head. "It'll be alright."

"But, they're..."

"I know."

"Those plates are stolen." Tate replied.

"BRR?"

"That would be my guess."

"So Craig decided to send a message before tomorrow's negotiation meeting."

"It appears so. If you don't think she'll be safe there, bring her to the HOG. We have plenty of room."

"I'll talk to her and see what she wants to do."

"Keep me posted."

The call ended and he turned to Everleigh. "We think it's the BRR. I'm sure you heard all of that. They know you're here. You're welcome to come to the HOG. It's safe there. We have security and room."

"I've never had anything like this happen before. Negotiations have gotten tense, but never a personal attack on me."

"It's not necessarily a personal attack. You're just the face and name to bringing them down the mountain and working to pay taxes. It's a stall tactic. A bad one, but one nonetheless."

The two men got in the truck and sped out of the parking lot. Henry leaned toward the windshield and stared at the driver. "No shit! That's Craig driving."

Everleigh swallowed and he continued to hold her hand. "Do you want to go back to the HOG with me?"

She shook her head slowly. "I want you to stay here with me."

He stared into her eyes for a long time. His mind told him she was leaving soon. His body told him to run to the door as fast as he could. His heart told him it would break when she left.

His body won.

Everleigh glanced at her SUV as Henry hurried her along to the door. "Why can't we go look at it?"

"I don't know if they're watching. We'll call the sheriff from inside. They'll leave as soon as they see the squad coming."
