“They aren’t allowed to be assholes to you.”

“That wasn’t what was happening,” I hiss.

“I disagree,” he says.

“That’s not surprising,” I say dryly. As I lean into him, I say, “Where was all this conversation when we were in the car? You wouldn’t bitch so much about me eating chips if you talked to me.”

“I was talking,” he says as he rubs his hand up my leg.

“Not much. You had to lecture me on what to do and not to do tonight at the club.” I sigh but thread my hand through his.

“I want you to be safe. Is that wrong?” he pouts.

“Of course not, but we could have had a conversation about anything else,” I say.

“I can work on it. When I’m watching someone, I’m always alone. I don’t have backup,” he explains.

“Oh, is this about the bloody side of you? You have to tell me,” I say. I bounce once in my seat. I wish I would have had the guts or the ability to hurt the kids that bullied me back in high-school. It’s fascinating that in this world they have their own codes and ways of dispensing justice without fear of repercussions.

A strangled cough interrupts us. I look up to see everyone looking at us in shock. Most of them are looking at Bash as if they have never seen him before.

“What?” he asks roughly.

“Holy shit,” Blue whispers. Blue is hot and huge. He has blonde hair with blue tips, which Harmony is currently running her hands through mindlessly as she stares at us.

“Did we enter another universe?” Harmony wonders. She is stunning. I have always wished I had her long black hair. Her body is to die for. Her baby belly just enhances her beauty. Her mates are lucky to have her.

“No, Bash must have a twin,” Ryker decides.

“Fuck off,” Bash glares. “Be nice to my mate, and we won’t have any problems.”

“We like Marie. We didn’t mean anything by it,” Harmony says.

“It’s fine. He’s grouchy. I convinced him to go undercover in the sex club, so he’s annoyed,” I explain.

“I am not,” Bash murmurs.

“This is phenomenal.” Harmony’s fun-loving mate James grins wide.

“Can we talk about tonight?” Bash asks.

“Sure.” Ryker shrugs.

“Did you find the layout of the club?” Bash asks.

“I did. This one is half the size of the last one. That's good and bad. Good, because you can get out faster if shit hits the fan. Bad, because if shit hits the fan, they can get to you fast.” Ryker leans towards us. “Are you sure about this?”

“Yes,” I answer.

“You have to be prepared, Marie. It’s a sex club, but there are many devices there that you may have never seen, and it can be alarming. I’m sure there will be women in positions that will piss you off. You have to hold your cool and be patient. Eventually, we will get them all out of the situation.” Ryker studies me.

“I understand.” I nod my head solemnly.

“I will be outside if something goes wrong. Brandon could think it’s funny when Bash walks in, or he could be angry. He knew Bash was involved in the closing of his club. At the time, he was furious with us,” Ryker warns.

“Does he know that you are vampires?” I ask them both.

“Yes, that's the only reason he had never retaliated,” Bash says.
