“He is human, but he has men who work for him that are supernatural who come to play,” Ryker says.

“He will depend on them if he decides to throw us out,” Bash mentions.

“What are you going to do if you get in?” Harmony asks.

“Bash will mind-scramble them,” I say, proudly smiling at him. “And maybe some blood.”

“You’re alright with that?” Jax asks. He is the Alpha of a pack and my old boss. I was terrified of him; now that I had met Bash, he seemed like an average guy. A badass guy but average.

“I trust Bash will do what he needs to,” I confirm.

“Jesus, she is meant for him,” Blue sighs.

I blind him with my smile. “Thank you.”

Bash laughs softly, and the room collectively sucks in a sharp breath. I frown at them.

“I’m happy for you, brother,” Ryker says seriously.

Bash nods. “Do I need to know anything new about Brandon?”

“He’s rolling in cash. He must have something else going on besides just revenue from the club. I’ve asked around. No one wants to admit anything, which means they have something to hide. I bet he’s running something illegal out of that club, either drugs or prostitution. He is possessive of those he deems his women, even though he hurts them.” Ryker’s eyes darken. “If you don’t take care of this quickly, I will.”

“He won’t be a problem after tonight,” Bash promises.

“Good,” Ryker says.

“Marie, do you know what you are wearing tonight?” Harmony asks.

“Uh…” I utter. “This isn’t good?” I ask, looking down at my clothes.

“Hon, you are walking into a sex club. You have to dress the part. You’re going undercover, right?” Serenity asks.

“What do you wear to a sex club?” I ask, wrinkling my nose.

I know I’m in trouble when Serenity and Harmony look at each other and grin eagerly.

Chapter Nine

Marie

I regret my decision to go undercover. I can’t look away from my image in the mirror. I can’t believe it’s me. My dirty blonde hair is sleek and shiny. Serenity left it down but pulled one side up with bobby pins. Harmony did my makeup, and I have to admit, it looks incredible. My blue eyes pop because of the black smokey eye. I watched her intently, hoping to be able to replicate the look.

They raided my closet for something to wear. Neither of them was even close to my size, so I couldn’t borrow anything of theirs. If I hadn’t gone shopping, they would have had no choices.

They decided to play up the innocent look I had going on. The dress was flowy, light blue, and very short. I feared if I turned too fast, it would fly up over my ass. I don’t remember trying it on in the store. Ava must have snuck it in.

They both gasped when they saw my tattoos on full display. The tiny straps of the dress hid nothing. I didn’t like the calculating looks on their faces then. I felt sexy, yet uncomfortable. This was way outside of the nice comfort zone I’ve lived in for years. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to handle it. The idea of going to the club didn’t seem like such a good plan. What if I panic? What if Brandon tries to hurt Bash?

“You look gorgeous,” Harmony whispers, absently rubbing her stomach.

“I’ve never felt this way,” I frown.

“So what’s Bash really like?” Serenity asks eagerly.

“He’s complicated. He’s kind, angry, hurt, fighting his needs, and beautiful. He hides a lot. I want him to believe in us because I do. I don’t know why, but his indecision makes me want to convince him to take a chance. I want him to tell me his demons. To trust me,” I confess softly, aware that Bash is somewhere in the building. They brought me up to Serenity’s apartment to get ready.

“Wow,” Harmony whispers.
