“Bash was so bloodthirsty he ran off. It took me a while to find him. It was in the middle of the night; everyone was at home in bed, so he broke into a Butcher shop. I found him chewing on a steak.” Ryker is laughing hard. “He—-he had the blood from the steak running down his face.”

“Fucker, you laughed just as hard then,” Bash says, scowling. Everyone else joins in, and I stifle my chuckle. Bash looks at me sharply but softens his look. He realized why Ryker likely said it.

“It was fucking funny,” Ryker says.

“You look beautiful, Marie,” Serenity says.

“Thanks.” I blush.

“The tattoos are rockin’,” James says.

“I’m glad you are okay,” Ava says softly. Her focus shifts from me to Bash. “Happy.”

“I am,” I assure her.

“We shadow walked here,” Bash tells them. “She did really well.”

“I only ran into two people. I’m calling that a success.” I smile proudly.

“It took me forever to figure it out,” Serenity says. “I would rather pop in and out of locations; it’s easier. But it doesn’t happen anymore.”

“I am afraid I’ll think about a location at the wrong time and pop in it in my underwear before I get the hang of it.” I lean back on Bash, getting comfortable.

“There will be none of that,” Bash says.

“That is the one thing I would love to be able to do,” James says sadly. “I would scare the shit out of people.” He grins.

“I would have to shoot you,” Blue grumbles. “You would do it all the time.”

“You have to learn to take a joke, brother,” James says. “The blue hair dye worked out.”

“One time. One time, one of your jokes worked out,” Blue says dryly.

“More than once,” James snorts.

“Name another,” Blue goads, waiting.

The silence stretches, so I decide to break it. “How is Harmony? I was grateful for the basket.”

“She is at home with Jax. She wanted some time with the Alpha; he pouts when he feels neglected,” James snickers.

“Hepouts?” Blue asks sarcastically.

“I don’t pout.” James rolls his eyes to the ceiling. “Okay, maybe sometimes.”

Blue laughs. “Idiot,” he says lovingly, smacking him on his arm. James makes a show of looking offended.

“This is the part where Jax would call you children,” Ryker interjects.

“He would,” James sighs.

Ryker raises his eyebrows. That’s all it takes for James to be silent.

“We are so glad Bash found you.” Ava leans forward. “We were so scared.”

“I have to admit, I was, too,” I say.

“I didn’t do much,” Bash says. “She was on her way to free herself when I got there.”
