Page 92 of Saving Her Vampire

“It might be important,” she says, cupping my cheek.

It stops only to start again. I curse and pull it out of my pocket. Bishop’s name flashes. “What?” I answer harshly.

“Hey, sorry to call so early, but I can’t get Sammy to shut the fuck up. He fucking chewed through the damn duct tape. He’s bleeding and whining,” Bishop says.

“Shit,” I look at Marie apologetically. “We’ll be there soon.” I hang up, not waiting for a reply. “Are you ready for this?”

“I’ll get dressed.”

She is ready quickly. She has tight black jeans, a fitted long-sleeved black shirt, and her combat boots. She tossed her hair on the top of her head. I raise an eyebrow at her.

“What? I’m dressing the part. The first rule of becoming a badass vampire is to dress like one,” she defends. “Penny actually bought me this shirt. She had it delivered.”

“I didn’t say anything. You look sexy as fuck,” I say, holding my hands up.

“Uh-huh,” she mumbles.

We shadow-walk to the warehouse. I love seeing her enjoyment, but that ends when we are standing in front of the building. I hear Sammy screeching. At least we are in a remote location.

“Are you sure?” I ask.

“Yep,” she says, popping thep. “Just promise after this we can have sweaty, mind-blowing sex.”

“I can promise that.” I smirk.

When we walk in, Sammy swings from his chains, cursing and whining simultaneously. Bishop is looking at him in disgust. River is sitting in his chair as if he never moved, holding his hands over his ears, a piece of licorice hanging from his mouth.

Brandon is gone. “We let him go,” Bishop says, seeing where my eyes were focused. “We followed him to his place; he packed and left town.”

“Good, thanks.” I look at Marie, frozen in place. “Marie?”

“Don’t worry,” she says.

“Good to see you, Marie,” Bishop says. He gets an intense look in his eyes. Did he just smell her?

“Dude,” I growl.

“Are you wearing a new perfume?” he asks.

“Yeah, it’s calledme,” I say roughly.

He backs up hastily. “Sorry,” he mumbles. He frowns and shakes his head.

Something to think about later. “Do what you have to.” I squeeze Marie’s hand.

“Marie, thank God. This asshole won’t shut up. Are you going to make him?” River asks.

“Yes,” she says, walking closer. Her voice deepens, and her body moves fluidly.

“Marie?” Sammy asks. His eyes lock on her.

“What? Do you not recognize the woman you held captive?” she asks.

“I didn’t mean to upset you.” He strains toward her.

“Upset me?”

“I just wanted to love you,” he whines, and River snorts.
