“Now, then...I asked you to sit down. Do I need to ask you a third time?”

Pursing my lips, I shook my head, and the king loosened up his grip on my leash. I crawled off his lap and reluctantly took my seat beside him, perching gingerly on the edge of the sofa.

Callister looked on, a strange mix of satisfaction and envy in his cruel eyes.

“It burns, doesn’t it?” he taunted in between pink puffs on his cherry cigarette. “You should’ve listened to Ransom the first time he asked you to sit down. I’m glad you didn’t.”

I immediately glanced at the King of Clubs, blinking with renewed indignation.

Ransom?

The name of the demon holding me hostage was fuckingRansom? Oh, the irony. But what a panty-melting name. It matched those panty-melting eyes.

I bit down on my lip before I said something out loud and got more than a spanking.

It wasn’t that I was afraid of what Ransom would do to me.

I just didn’t want to give Callister the satisfaction of watching it being done.

“Don’t bite your lip,” Ransom scolded with a slow, predatory smile. It curled just enough to reveal his sharp canine teeth. “That’smyjob now.”

I dropped my gaze and found myself staring at an impressive bulge in his black pants that hadn’t been there before.

Fuck me...

The King of Clubs was serving up mafia devil-daddy realness and I was here for it. He was simultaneously terrifying, yet gorgeous.

He acted like he kept bad bunny girls on leashes all the time, and yet somehow, that spanking session had turned him on.

I’dturned him on.

I knew I was hot, but he was ademon king!

Despite my inner feminist screaming that I was no man’s property—or demon’s for that matter—I felt a strange sense of pride for making him hard. More heat rushed between my thighs. I detested the man, but that didn’t stop me from wanting him to want me.

I bet he fucked like a stallion.

Damn.

Now I was even wetter.

I was probably gonna leave a wet spot on his fancy black velvet couch.

In a desperate attempt to ignore the situation, I focused on the room.

The walls were black, and black velvet curtains pooled on the floor, spilling like waterfalls onto the black and gold tiles. Mirrors framed in gold covered the walls and even the ceiling, reflecting various angles of the luxurious bed.

I guess if Ransom liked to put leashes and collars on his bad bunnies, it wasn’t a stretch for him to have mirrors all over the walls and the ceiling.

The furniture was carved from ebony, and the candlelight filling the space reflected off the multiple mirrors, flooding the room with a warm, opulent glow.

It was the kind of lighting that always made a naked body look incredible, no matter their skin tone.

"Where am I?" I finally spat out, trying to mask my frustration with bravado. “And why did you kidnap me?”

The flecks of gold in Ransom’s mysterious eyes softened and faded. Then he reached out and pulled something I couldn’t see over his body. I don’t know if it was demon magic or what, but suddenly he was back in his three-piece suit.

All traces of his horns and wings were gone.
