“So.”

“Then I’d never know what’s inside of this box.”

“Something to remind niggas what time it is since motherfuckers been acting clueless.”

“So, a leash?”

“You full of jokes tonight, huh?”

“I’m just asking. You’re speaking as if I’m some sort of property. I’m just trying to figure this thing out.”

“You’re not a piece of property, Nature. I’ve never thought of you as such, either. Never will. But without a doubt, I wholeheartedly believe you belong to me. I want everyone to know that.”

“Milo, I’ve explained that we’re not falling in line or falling into a routine.”

“I heard you. The second you feel like that message is being lost, tell me. But I doubt you’ll need to. I can comprehend.”

“Alright.”

“Now, can you just sit your fine ass back and listen to the music instead of worrying about that damn box? You’ll see what’s inside soon enough.”

Though difficult, I managed to enjoy the duration of our journey without mentioning the box again. We arrived at Saint, walking into the dimly lit establishment hand in hand. Milo was dapper in the silk, short-sleeve button-down that matched my dress. His pants were a deep, dark brown that made his dark, buttery skin glow.

The gold teeth and jewelry that he accessorized with were the ultimate straw. Making it home to the bedroom would be a challenge that I’d easily fail proudly, knowing that the prize at the end would be well worth my failure.

We reached the lobby where a young woman and man stood with tablets that displayed last names and reservation times. Milo and I changed our trajectory, meeting the woman with his first initial and last name on her screen. Our eight-thirty reservation time was just underneath it, confirming we were indeed the targets.

“Domino party?”

“Yeah,” Milo asserted.

“I’m Bridgette. I’ll be your host for the night. I’ll be serving you all in your suite tonight as well. If there’s anything I can do for you, just let me know. There’s a button on each side of the table that you’ll find helpful in the event that you need me and I’m not within reach.”

“Nice to meet you, Bridgette.”

“And you are?” Her gaze lingered as she offered me a hand.

“Nature.” I shook her hand.

“Nice to meet you, Nature. Such a beautiful name.”

“We’ll be right back here. We’re aware that your privacy is your top priority tonight, so we’ve made it ours as well. Menus are on the display board inside. However, your meal is being prepared as we speak. Drinks and dessert will be delivered shortly.”

“Prepared already?”

“Yes. Mr. Domino took the liberty of choosing the do not disturb option, which requires selections at the time of reservations. It cuts down my time with you all and gives you more time to enjoy one another’s company.”

“Appreciate it.”

Milo took my hand and led me into the dim room with a table set for two. Champagne was chilling on ice, making me wonder why we needed more drinks. Either way, I wouldn’t complain. Mason was stocked on milk and would be for the next twenty-four hours if necessary.

“Can I get you guys anything else before I cut out?”

“Uh, I don’t think so,” I stammered, noticing the enormous bouquet of flowers that were next to the table in a large container that stood at least four feet from the ground.

“Enjoy your time at Saint.”

Alone, Milo and I stood, both taking in the ambiance. The space was gorgeous. Without a doubt, I knew the ticket was well over four digits. Admittedly, it fit the bill.
