“When are you due?” Aeir’s attempt to lighten the load was successful.

“June tenth.”

“An end-of-Spring birth.”

“I’m just hoping he doesn’t decide to stick around until Summer begins. I’m hot and I’m growing tired,” Nature explained.

“I understand.”

I forked my greens, watching as Nature handled Maz in one hand and managed to stuff her face with the other. She was a natural. Mason’s presence would only enhance her motherly instincts. Admittedly, it was eye opening, seeing her with a boy in her arms that would most likely resemble ours.

It was as if I was seeing our future right before my eyes. The empty ring finger was my only hiccup. It deserved the fattest rock that kept her finger chilled and her heart ice cold when it came to any nigga besides me.

Plates were cleaned and bottles were emptied over the next two hours. No one was in a rush to leave, everyone joking about a sleepover that would more than likely happen in the future. Tonight, however, my bed was calling my name. I leaned over, scooting Nature’s chair closer to me.

“You feel so far away,” I whispered in her ear.

“You’re intoxicated, Milo,” she responded, whispering as well.

“Every time you come around.”

“No,” she hissed. “Like, actually drunk.”

“You haven’t put Maz down once.”

“I’m attached,” she admitted.

“You’re going to look good with our son on your hip.”

“Am I?” She smiled, her cheeks flushing a soft pink.

“I’m ready to go home.”

“What’s stopping you?”

“Come over.”

“No. You asked me to join you for dinner and I have. I’m going home after I leave.”

“Then I’m coming with you,” I told her, standing to my feet and nearly busting my ass.

“Wooooah.” Nature extended a hand to help me keep my balance. I was a bit worse off than I’d assumed.

“Nature,” Pops called out.

“Yes?”

“Take him home,” Mercer demanded.

“He’s in no shape to drive.”

I tilted my head, smirking as I waited for her to deny either of them. She couldn’t, especially not Pops. Mercer, it was possible.

“Of course,” she replied, staring up at me.

“I’ll take him,” Aeir said, reaching for Maz, who was sound asleep in Nature’s arms, looking like it was where he belonged.

Carefully, Nature stood to her feet, taking me by the hand and pulling me closer to her.
