“Monday afternoon sex,” he murmured. “I could get used to this.”

She laughed softly, tracing his biceps with her soft fingers. “And people say they hate Mondays.”

“Not me.”

“Me either.” She tipped her head up, still smiling, and he had to kiss her again. Wasn’t sure he’d ever get sick of it. “So I need to tell you something,” she said, her voice wavering now.

“What is it?”

“I kind of need to tell my parents about us.”

“Okay.”

She swallowed. “I sort of hinted that there is someone. And I know they won’t leave it alone until they find out.”

“You don’t need to sound so scared. I’ve been thinking the same thing. We’ve been sailing too close to the wind for a while. With Josh…”

“And Presley suspects something.”

Michael’s lips twitched. “Is there anybody in Hartson’s Creek who doesn’t suspect something?”

“Probably not.” She sighed. “Small towns aren’t the best for keeping secrets.”

“How do you want to do it?”

“I don’t know.” She let out a long breath. “I’m scared.” And then she looked at him. “Let’s do it Friday.”

He wanted to laugh at her sudden change in direction. “Okay.”

“You sure?”

“Yeah.” He nodded. “My mom’s doing well and I think it’s the right time. The only question is, do we do it before or afterChairs?” He kissed her temple. “Or do you want to do it there? Give everybody a ringside seat to the latest scandal to envelop Hartson’s Creek.”

“Please no.” She shook her head at his teasing. “Anywhere butChairs.”

“You could invite them here,” he suggested. “We could have dinner with them. Keep it civilized.”

“You scared my dad will beat you up?”

He laughed. “Petrified.” He lifted a brow, and she grinned.

“Dinner sounds like a good idea,” she said. “Thank you.”

“I didn’t say I’d cook it.”

She laughed again.

“But I will. I’ll bring steaks. We can grill.”

“The weather forecast says rain for Friday.”

“Then we’ll grill in the rain.”

“Okay then.” She rolled over, putting her palms on his chest, resting her chin on top of them. “What about your parents?”

“You want me to invite them too?”

She blinked. “Actually, that’s not a bad idea.”
