Michael had sent Josh downstairs to the lobby café to wait for him, then walked back into the bedroom to make sure she was calm.

And she wasn’t. She’d just flashed Michael’s brother. And revealed their relationship in one easy, half-naked swoop.

“I can’t believe I did that.”

“Did what?” He was still holding her. He felt like she needed it.

“Walked out there without clothes on. There could have been a bellhop there.”

“I’m glad there wasn’t. I’d have had to gouge his eyes out for looking at you.” He leaned forward to softly kiss her lips. “Go put a t-shirt on and eat some breakfast. I’ll go down and talk to Josh.”

“Do you think he’ll tell your mom about us?” She swallowed hard. Yes, they’d talked about them coming out to their parents.

But not like this.

“No. I’ll make sure he doesn’t. This is Josh. Yeah, he’s more perceptive than Mason, but he also likes a quiet life. Let me go sort this out, and then we’ll get on with our day.”

She blew out a mouthful of air. “Should I come talk to him, too?”

“Not yet. Let me do it.”

She nodded. If it had been her brother who saw them – the horror – she’d have wanted to do the same. Talk sibling to sibling. It was only fair to let Michael do the same.

“Okay then. Go before he calls somebody.”

“I’ll go if you promise to calm down.”

She nodded. “I will.”

“And eat something. You’re shaking.”

“I’ll try.”

He looked her in the eye. “Do it. I promise it’ll be okay.”

It was strange how reassuring he could be. Especially in the middle of this crapshoot. “You ever think this weekend is cursed? First your date atChairsand now this?”

His eyes crinkled. “No. I think this weekend is wonderful. I got to spend all of it with you.”

Her heart clenched. “You’re such a smooth talker.”

“Just keeping it real.” Their eyes connected and she felt the warmth again. How was it that this man could make her feel safe in the middle of an emotional storm? “Now go get dressed and don’t open the door for any strange men.”

“Does that include you?” she asked archly.

“Probably. But I’ve got a key.” He winked.

“Are you an idiot?”Josh asked, shaking his head as Michael passed him a coffee. The shop was empty, the whole concourse of the hotel was. It was too damn early for this. “What are you thinking? How long has this been going on between you two?”

“A year.”

Josh’s mouth dropped open. “But you’ve only been back in the country a couple of months.”

“I met Grace in New York a year ago. I didn’t know who she was. We had dinner together. We got along great. I liked her a lot.”

“So, when did you find out who she was?”
