Page 36 of Love is Cupid

“No. I don’t think I can.”

My tears fall harder as he stands and comes over to me. The other two back away, giving us a little space as Milo stops barely a foot away.

“No more lies. No more secrets,” he says to me, his voice just above a whisper.

“No more. I swear it.” My blood pumps wildly through my veins as he stares at me.

Then in a movement so fast, I almost don’t register what’s happening, he grabs me by the front of my hoodie and kisses me. I sink into it, happiness exploding throughout my whole body that for the first time he’s kissing me with no magic influencing him whatsoever.

“Ew! Gross!” Cooper giggles, pulling us out of the moment and covering his eyes.

We all laugh and I’m immediately enveloped in a group hug between the guys. I have to disappear my wings to avoid Bellamy getting a mouthful of feathers in the hug. Cooper promptly uncovers his eyes and jumps in between us, so he can hug my waist.

“So does this mean True is staying?” he asks from his little space.

“If she wants?” Milo asks, directing the question at me.

“I’d be pretty Cupid to say no to that,” I reply, my cheeks hurting from smiling so big.

“Oh god, she’s got puns,” Bellamy huffs with amusement.

Just wait. This Cupid has more where that came from. And I can’t wait to show them.

The next day, it takes some convincing to get Coop to agree to spend the night with his grandma. He doesn’t want to leave me, worried I’ll leave again while he is gone. But after sitting down with him and explaining that I have no plans of going anywhere ever again, he agrees.

The guys want to take me out on an official date tonight to a fancy restaurant, so we can fully give this thing between the four of us a go. And there are just some things a six-year-old doesn’t need to know.

Coincidentally enough, today is Valentine's Day. Coop gave me a card he made when I woke up. Pretty sure I’ll be finding heart-shaped confetti in my room for the next few weeks.

“True, you ready?” Milo asks, knocking on my bedroom door.

“Be there in a sec!” I call back, adding my favorite heart-shaped diamond earrings to my ensemble.

I’d styled my hair into an intricate braided bun with small tendrils hanging on the sides. A soft pink sequin cocktail dress hugs my curves in all the right ways, exposing just a bit of cleavage with the plunging neckline and the tops of my inner thighs with its upside-down V cut out at the front. I had every intention of pulling out all the stops to impress my guys. I think I succeeded.

I give myself one last glance in the mirror and leave the room. When I walk into the living room, I’m met with three men who could literally melt the panties off any woman just by how they’re dressed.

Each is in different shades of button-down shirts and slacks, and their hair is styled in ways I’d never seen before. I have to swallow back the drool or risk it dripping down my chin at how damn good they look. Three sets of shocked eyes hit me at the same time, and I’m pretty sure their jaws drop.

“Well, I’m going to be hard throughout dinner,” Bellamy immediately says.

“Do we have to go to dinner? I kinda feel like my appetite could be satisfied here and now,” Clay agrees, looking me up and down like a snack.

“You look stunning, True,” Milo tells me, the first to walk over and plant a kiss on my cheek. Ever the gentleman.

“Thank you. And yes, we need to go to dinner. I didn’t dress up like this for nothing,” I sass, shooting Clay a wink.

“Well, we should go before we change our minds,” Bellamy replies, grabbing my hand and pulling me out the door as fast as he can, making me giggle.

As much as I’d like to stay here and do many things with all of them, I know we need this night. Thankfully, we make it to the restaurant and our table without a hitch, though the car ride over was filled with enough sexual tension you could cut the air with a knife.

Milo orders the most expensive bottle of champagne they have and pours us all a glass. He raises his and catches my eye.

“From the moment I met you, I had no idea what to expect. You changed all of our lives in such a way that I don’t think any one of us will ever look at the world the same. To know magic exists was a huge pill to swallow, but the magic you brought to us far out does it all. Thank you for being here, loving my son, for healing my brother, my friend, and especially me. To you, True.”

Milo’s toast brings tears to my eyes, but I do my best to choke them back as we all sip to that.
