Page 97 of Rise After Fall

I try to move slowly. To savor the feel of her contracting around me.

“Oh God,” she gasps.

Raising her hips to meet my thrusts, she quickens her pace.

“Morris, oh, you feel so good inside me,” she pants.

I start thrusting deeper as she glides her hands around to my ass, and she digs her nails in.

That is when I lose all control.

I grab her hips and lift them as I hammer into her. Her groans grow louder and more desperate. My cock throbs as I pump harder and faster.

When I think I can’t hold on any longer, her sweet warmth clenches down on me, and my name falls from her lips.

I take her mouth with mine to absorb her cries, and I let go as her muscles spasm around me.

Once our bodies settle, I pull her close and kiss her eyes, her nose, and her lips until she sighs.

Content.

Tucking her into my side, I pull the covers over us.

And we fall asleep together.

Zoey

Iwake up, wrapped in his arms, and I feel safe and warm for the first time that I can remember.

His breathing is still heavy, so I slide out quietly from underneath his arm, grab my nightshirt from the floor, and tiptoe down the hallway to the kitchen to start a pot of coffee.

Wrapping myself in the blanket that was slung over the back of his couch, with a hot mug in hand, I step into his wool slippers by the back door and slip out onto the newly finished deck.

Graham and his crew came over while we were working yesterday and completed the railing and stain for Morris. I’m still in awe that he built this for me, just so I could watch the sunrise for a few months.

Who does that?

The last couple of months have flown by, and they’ve felt like a lifetime. This mountain, the resort, and the entire town have wormed their way into my heart. A heart that was beaten down.

My time here has become a resurrection.

A dream died that day on the mountain in Lake Placid with a single fall, but a new dream rises today on this mountain in Balsam Ridge.

A pair of strong arms comes around my shoulders, and I feel his heat at my back.

“Good morning,” he whispers.

“Isn’t it?” I reply.

“What’s on the agenda for today, boss lady?”

“Breakfast with Mom and Dad over at the hotel. Then, we have a full day of teaching,” I say.

“Sounds like a good day,” he murmurs just as fluffy white flakes begin to float down around us.

I open my hand and look up at the sky.

“The perfect day.”
